Hello!
I'm Camille, a French occasional traveler. I am a listening and passionate person and I love learning from the people I meet. I'm very interested by culture in its large sens, it is the essence of my trips. The history, the arts, the food, the lifestyle are all things that I try to feel and meeting locals is the best way to discover and share cultures. I’m also very much into trekking and discovering amazing landscapes I can paint.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Couchsurfing is definitly an excellent way to meet people from different backgrounds with opinions, passions, and knowledges that are made to be discovered and shared. Being part of this community is a better way to extend myself to the world.
As I am a little shy, it helps a lot to meet people without having to accost them, which is a difficult step for me.

Interessen

I am very curious and open-minded so I am pretty much interested by anything. What I am passionated about is arts, all forms of art, especially painting and theater.

I paint and draw travel sketchbooks.
My favourite mouvements are impressionism and new realism. I really like modern art because it extends the work to something bigger than what we can just see. It releases the imagination far more than representation.

French theater is an other art I like a lot. I enjoy Molière or Alfred de Musset as much as contemporary plays adding dance or singing. I like French comedies because they always include that delightful pinch of sarcasm, so dear to French humour!
I'm fond of Italian Opera, espacially Puccini's work. Mrs Butterfly is my favourite play.

I play the piano also. I started 15 years ago but I lost a lot in the past years. I enjoy playing classic music as much as contemporary music, film musics and even songs (but I don't sing!). I force myself to play improvisations but I find it difficult. One day I'll be able to play something jazzy, I work on it!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I enjoy a lot listening to music but I am terrible at remembering the names of artists, groups or songs. The styles I enjoy the most are the British Rock, with groups like Queen or U2, Alternative Jazz/RnB with artists like Nujabes or Roy Hargrove ; Indie music with Bon Iver, S. Carey or Alt-J and French Touch Electro.

Movies. Well, I enjoy pretty much everything. My favourite directors are The Cohen Brothers, Hitchcock and Wes Anderson. I can't chose a favourite film because there are so much I like. I am also very into Studio Ghibli's animation movies.

I love reading. I always have a book with me even if I don't find time to read. My favourite book is Aurelien from Aragon. I also enjoy very much Emile Zola, Jean Giono, Georges Orwell or Julien Gracq but I like to discover new ones and change.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Living abroad is really amazing. Being immersed so deeply in a culture and being able to learn so much about the life style, the language, the cuisine is extreamly enriching. I have been able to meet incredible people.
I had the opportunity to live abroad 3 times in my life :
In London for three years when I was a child, 4 months in Canada and Budapest for 4 other months.

I can share my good vibes, long talks, my passions and of course, I could cook a French meal ! If you have a piano, I can play a little bit of Chopin.
