About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover the world and above all, other cultures.

ABOUT ME

Hi,I originally come from New-Caledonia* and I've been living in Paris for 20 years now.
I love travelling, reading and discovering new tastes from all over the world.
Sharing cups of tea or coffee (depending on the context), cigarets and chats make me happy.
However, I enjoy sharing silences too.

PHILOSOPHY

To be open-minded...as much as I can, unfortunately I have an issue : I'm intolerant towards intolerance. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurf and host myself when I can.
I'm not very fun to be around during the week though as I come back most of the time exhausted from my work to which I give all my energy. But I'm totally fine during the weekend and holidays. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in France ; Italy ; Kazakhstan and Kirghizstan.
I hosted six different people in Astana in Kazakhstan.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books : My favorite is "Journey to the end of the night" by Louis-Ferdinand Céline.
I like many others of course (such as "Dirty hands" by Jean-Paul Sartre ; "The Counterfeiters" by André Gide ; "1984" by George Orwell ; "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley ; "Zorba the Greek" by Nikos Kazantzakis ; "Rayuela" by Julio Cortazar or "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera, etc.) but have never found better since.

Music : Queen. Blonde Redhead. Keane. CocoRosie. Radiohead. Placebo. Massive Attack. The Chemical Brothers. Herbalizer. Goldfrapp (only their magnificient "Utopia" album). Mostly alternative/indie/alternative rock and trip-hop) and all the rock from the 70's (musical background).

Movies : "Poetry" by Lee Chang Dong ; "2046" and "In the Mood for Love" by Wong Kar Wai ; "Revolutionary road" and "American Beauty" by Sam Mendes ; "The Game" and "Fight Club" by David Fincher ; "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind" by Michel Gondry ; "The Cook, the thief, his wife and her lover" by Peter Greenaway ; "Collision" by Paul Haggis ; Inarritu ; Kitano ; etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on Internet to find an hostel in Jerusalem and booked for the first youth hostel to host on the roof, and I didn't regret it, because we had a BEAUTIFUL view on the old city and I met a great Danish girl there who became my travel buddy. This city is just incredibly moving.

Teach, Learn, Share

LEARN and SHARE :
I enjoy learning from people who are curious about the world we are living in and about all the things which are different from what I already know. In a word, I love learning, that's why I'm a teacher, I guess. ;-)
More precisely, I need to improve my Spanish seriously and I'd love to learn German one day.

I love sharing cigarets while talking about anything interesting. Always with a slice of humor but I enjoy sharing silences too. I also can smoke outside of course if you don't stand it. :)

I like swimming (I'm an average swimmer : 2 km per hour and I swim one hour) and nothing makes me more happy than swimming in a river, a lake or the sea.

I like running but running doesn't like my left foot (1 h 3 mn is my personnal record for 10 km but now I do it in more than one hour) and I try to hike when I can during holidays.

NOT MY CUP OF TEA :
Playing drinking games all night or going to noisy night-clubs are definitely not my cup of tea. I feel very old about those kind of stuff. I know who I am and already know my limits. Nobody to impress around. Sorry to disappoint a lot of couchsurfers here.
