Overview
About Me
My name is Camilo, a common name in this part of the world… almost anybody is called Camilo here. In Belgium I learnt it is a nice name for a dog. People in Italy, if I ain’t mistaken, use to all their dogs Camillo, with two ‘l’s. Anyway, that’s how someone named me, and I cannot tell my name fits me. Maybe it fits more in a dog, which I’m not far from being sometimes. The rudest insult for an ancient Greek man: “dog”.
I studied Classical Philology, maybe that’s why I started talking about Colombia, then moved to Italy, and at the end to the ancient Greek world. I also studied philosophy. However, I hate to be taken as an ancient philologist, and even worst: a philosopher. I worship the work of both. I’m afraid to not being half what they are.
In some few months I’m moving to Lyon. That’s one of the reasons I reopened my CS. I do like the network and have helped and been helped by ppl here. I hope this network will still give me surprises and good meetings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'd like to meet other people, try to find what's going on in the mind of the Other. I'm interested in finding new places and experiences that could be, perhaps, closer, if you're with someone that have already got acquainted with these places and experiences. That, I think, can approximate you to the most vivid and interesting insights.
Interests
Philosophy, literature, le cinéma, different cultures and their livings or ways of life, emotions, behaviors, sickness, human mistakes, beauty, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Bach, Keith Jarrett, Brassens... I like Truffaut's (Jim and Jules, Two English Girls, The 400 blows, Bed and Board, etc.) and Akira Kurosawa's films (Red Beard, The Dreams). Now I'm getting interested in Antonioni's and Pasolini's films. Favorite books? ...Homer, Virgil, Cervantes, Garcilasso de la Vega, Kafka, Hugo, Stendhal, Shakespeare, Proust, Rivera, Plato, Aristote, Bergson, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Now I just can remember that when I was thirteen or fourteen years old I hiked alone a mount near to Manizales, Nevado del Ruiz, while my father and brothers waited in a bus till the tour to Manizales returned. I didn't climb all the Nevado, but almost.
Teach, Learn, Share
Still I have this cigar from La Havana that I haven't smoked. It's entirely new! If I don't leave it for my next trip we could smoke it.
Everyone is always about to learn about anythin'. We all tend to run after knowledge, no matter what it is about (widely speaking).
Of course there are things I'd like to teach. I begin to discriminate which kind of things are fitted to each kind of individual soul. So I'll find the way to «teach» what the yours need. I'll fulfill that lack! (Sorry.. I'm quite optimistic!)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Thoughts, beliefs, some weird reflections about life (I'm sure I'll remember what it's about when I start), etc.
