After wrapping up an undergraduate degree at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, I am moving onto the next step in my professional aspirations! In July (2015), I will begin pursuing my MD at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, KS.

I am a passionate traveler, invested in community service, my education, and making the most of every spur of the moment opportunity! The time is now to conquer a significant chunk of my bucket list before moving on to my graduate degree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not far from your typical young, adventurous traveler who is eager to take on a new culture. As I've learned through experience, often the best way to do that is by getting to know the people. In that way, I think Couchsurfing is an incredible opportunity.

I've lived with host families in both Panama and Spain, creating two of the best memories in my life. Even just a simple conversation with someone local who has embraced the culture can add an incredible touch to a travelling experience. I'm excited at the opportunity to share cultural differences, stories, and spend some time exploring somewhere new.

At the moment, I'm transition from housing in Manhattan to KC, but as soon as the move is finalized, guests will be more than welcome!

Interests

Adventure - I think this speaks for itself as I'm engaged in Couchsurfing. I love going off the beaten path and taking in an experience that is entirely unique! I'm fascinated by natural landscapes and am always interested in taking a hike to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Athletics - Basically anything! I am a sports fan from top to bottom. I have played competitive baseball and soccer, but enjoy playing anything from basketball to tennis to volleyball for recreational fun!

Drawing - A side hobby of mine, I have developed a knack for creative work. I have done anything from basic pencil sketches to canvas paintings to creative logos/media for athletic teams and organizations.

Architecture - this ties into my creative interests. For a while, before deciding on a career in medicine, I considered turning my interests for architecture and design into a career. However, as it stands now, I love taking in the unique architecture of each place I visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The opportunity to spend two months studying abroad in Spain was an opportunity unlike any other I've had the chance to experience. I still am in continuous contact with my host family to this day!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to share stories. While it might not be "teaching" or "learning" in the literal sense, I believe that sharing accounts of different experiences can be one of the most rewarding ways to learn.

I would also be open to giving a few lessons on various American sports if anybody is interested!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am naturally an incredibly organized, independent, and personable host. Whether cleaning up, maintaining an organized space, or conveying appreciation, I am happy to contribute as much as I can to make the experience all the more enjoyable for everyone involved.
