16 years ago I left Canada for one year... and I'm still gone. It just doesn't end! It can't! There's always something more, or new, or different. Places amaze, people surprise, and the food...!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

a lot of friends have had wonderful experiences using couchsurfing, so i figured i would check it out. still pretty new to it, but the people i have met through it have been great.

Interests

I like to read something very different from the last thing I read, watch old comedies over and over, listen to new music each day, veg out watching QI, and skim, surf, and snowboard. And travel. And eat!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I was a kid when I found a Beatles mixed-tape. Helter Skelter, Don't Let Me Down, A Day in the Life... that was all it took! I was hooked: rock 'n' roll for me, all the way, in all its eclectic forms, old and new. Radiohead, Canned Heat, Perfume Genius, My Bloody Valentine, Lene Lovich, Stereototal, Blur, Caribou, Tori Amos, Deerhunter, Suede, Tom Waits, , Toro Y Moi, Janis Joplin, etc... You get the picture.

Movies:
my desert island dvds -Lawrence of Arabia, Fight Club, The Three Amigos, The Seventh Seal, Reservoir Dogs

Books:
I studied lit undergrad and grad, so there is pain mixed with the pleasure for me with some books, hehehe. A few that stand out to me for style, voice, or impact on me: Chaucer, Achebe, Kayam, Atwood, Nabokov, Assimov, Hardy, Carver, Amis, Twain, Tolstoy, Kinsella, Coady, Thomas King, Conrad, McCarthy, Irving, Coetzee, Munro, Dickson, Cohen.
