About Me

Adventurer, musician (www.sleepsignal.org), photographer, story teller and story listener, language collector. Originally from Lithuania, now based in Berlin

After having spent 7 years traveling by bike and living in different places outside of EU it was difficult for me to adapt to occidental civilised world. I missed the joy and hospitality of more poor but more happy places like India, Caucasus, Syria..! So, even if I have a base in Berlin, in the summer I still prefer to live outdoors. I discovered Basque country few years ago (walked by foot there) and now I am writing a book with stories and anecdotes from the Basque Country.

Last year I worked as a shepherd in Swiss Alps. It was a very special experience. I spend a lot of time living outdoors in the nature, but I like to visit cities and see art in the museums and the architecture.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet new people in places where I go and get to know better the place from the locals perspective, make new friends.

Since I live in an extremely tiny place, I host only my close friends who can handle the size of the space.

Interests

I like ancient stuff - languages, stones, old writings.

If I could make magic with time, I would want to go to China during the Tang dynasty (618 - 907), to Bactria (Kushan empire, present day Afghanistan) during the reign of Kanishka (ca. 150), and Europe when in Iberian peninsula Basque language was widely spread....

I also like to cook, look, experience and create art, to think, to have a smart conversation, hike, learn languages, photography, also be by myself in the mountains.

I am musician, so I like to compose, listen, perform music.

One of my favourite books is "The Book of Disquiet" by Fernando Pessoa.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At some point I gave up my possessions and set off on a bicycle to explore the world. I lived many years without having a base in various countries and learned many amazing things.

Was a shepherd in Swiss Alps.

Lived with old school fishermen in Sri Lanka.

Lived one winter in a small very remote Georgian mountain village.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am good in languages, speak 14 languages and in few more I can communicate. I can share how I learn!

Also I am very good in making oneself invisible. I can show you how.

I like buddhist and taoist philosophies, buddhist teachings how you can deal with emotions, with life in general. I can gladly share these discoveries.

I think that it is very important that people learn to communicate in better ways. I like the concept of nonviolent communication of Marshall Rosenberg and can tell you about it.

Also I can tell you how you can leave the system, live with very little amount of money and be happy with it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook, exchange adventure stories and stories from history. I consider myself to be a cheerful and sincere person and I like to have proper laugh, dance, conversations, hugs! I am a happy person with a lot of energy and curiosity, although I am also half introvert and like to be a bit by myself. It is always about the right balance.
