About Me

Naber CS? My name is Can, which is confusingly pronounced a bit like 'John' for English speakers, and my last name is usually a whole next level of confusion so let's save that for later.

First time I left home to go abroad on my own I was 18 and I had no idea what I was doing. Now, all these years later, having met so many people that inspired and changed me, seen sights I will never forget, and gained all this experience; I still have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Still that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the process.

About me; I'm a very open-minded person, I love making friends and chilling, watching sunsets and drinking beer, simple things are enough for me. I'm very easily impressed and easy to be happy which some might find stupid but I don't. As far as I can remember traveling's been my favorite human experience, though I have to admit I haven't been to nearly as many places as I'd have liked to. I'm a slow guy, I like to stay in one place and grow roots where I go if I have the chance, make deep connections with the places I travel to. I usually go and stay for a good enough time to almost make that place feel like home if it's possible at all. And I think I'm pretty good at that.
Lately however, economy and all that, traveling is put on a shelf. Meanwhile the next best thing: to host travelers whenever I can. My work schedule is very unpredictable so I can't say exactly when but I will definitely look out for you!

Music, Movies, and Books

Latest unforgettable book was Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, very entertaining and also super cool knowledge that makes you wanna go tell your friends so that's a good book for me (for as long as I can remember it) (not very long)
One movie that happened to change my life was this Quebecois gem called C.R.A.Z.Y. though honestly it's not necessarily a life-changing film, it was just the right one at the right time for me.
And for the song I’ll give you a favorite Turkish one for the sake of sharing something from my land; Dök Zülfünü Meydana Gel by Golden Horn Ensemble. I think it's on spotify.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I knitted a scarf once. Also have a couple of stories involving the Great Barrier Reef, some reindeers in the Arctic Circle, and a farmstead in the British Columbia mountains, but nothing is as cool as that scarf.

UPDATE: I wrote that paragraph years and years ago, and just recently I started knitting again. I'm so excited. This time I'm making a beanie.
