About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world. Try not to miss out on any..eh..shiznit?

ABOUT ME

Greatest interests are history and politics. I've worked in politics for many years. I find chatting with people from different parts of the world or the country fascinating. I like running, brutal sarcasm, food (as opposed to sushi), and travel..the further away from organized tourism the better, though I also like to see the big, historic sites like the colosseum (seen), the acropolis (seen), the egyptian pyramids (not yet), macchu piccu (just saw), etc. Like music quite a lot, and movies, but honestly, who the crap doesn't watch movies and listen to music. Even the most 3rd world, shit-covered village 1k miles from the edge of nowhere probably has dial-up, lady gaga on a few mp3 players, and a bootleg copy of Pirates of the Carribean (or maybe i'm wrong). Home in LB now, so while I don't have a couch to offer at the moment...

PHILOSOPHY

Was president of my high school quote-unquote "Philosophy Club"..which didn't leave me with a personal philosophy. I took some philosophy in college..but i suppose i have nothing that profound to say regarding myself..mainly trying not to get bored (nothing worse)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just signed up with CS recently when I landed in Peru. Have already met a number of interesting people, though I haven't actually surfed a couch yet. Now that I'm home, while I don't have a couch to offer at present, I do have my bitchin' ride (a.k.a. Trigger) my little Infiniti G20..not for sleeping in, of course! But I'd be more than happy to show people around my fair city of Long Beach, Cal. (maybe even LA, if I have time) or just get a drink.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

so far just meeting and hanging out w/ some couchsurfers in Peru

Interests

history, politics, classical art, military history, music (almost all genres), sometimes photography, exploration (duh)..especially on foot, running (but for my foot injury!), food (but careful while traveling because i got so sick in Cambodia one time..well it was just real bad), conversation

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Peak experiences include completing the LA Marathon, looking out from the top of the Rock of Gibralter, and visiting the Western Wall in Jerusalem and Petra in Jordan. And the Louvre was pretty awesome! And Versailles was bitchin! Perhaps, most moving, was visiting Auschwitz in Poland..my grandmother was a surviver!

Teach, Learn, Share

Read a lot of news. American politics & history, and quite a bit about the history/politics of other parts of the world, with a special interest in europe and the mid-east. I used to play trumpet and Ive studied some Pashto. Some philosophy, but its been a while since ive got into all that nonesense. Literature, if we have read the same books. Seen a lot of classic american film, some foreign. Know a bit about various religions, as well. Hey, I can teach you to drive stick! How about that? Driving automatic just isn't driving!
