My name's David ... Captain Swankypants is just a fun nickname an ex gave me as a reflection of my cheeky nature :)

I'm really chilled out - just here to do my bit to help others enjoy their travelling and reduce some of the financial struggles. It's always fun to meet other people and hear about their adventures too :)

My French language is a bit rusty but still pretty good. German, Spanish and Italian are reeeeeeeeeeeeeally rusty but happy to practice (although it probably defeats the purpose for guests). Google Translate is remarkably handy!

In my "spare time" I help to run a couple of support groups: one is for British expats in New Zealand and the other is for Solo Parents. I'm an advocate for safety - especially women's safety and just being decent humans in general :)

I've been lucky enough to have my travels paid for by work but not everyone is so fortunate to have Business Class flights and stay in top-notch hotels! So I'm doing my bit to help others save their money for travel experiences rather than accommodation!

I have pretty eclectic taste when it comes to music, etc., ... but I especially love live music and concerts - far nicer to share the experience with others rather than just in my hearbuds!

Skydived, swum with dolphins, moved to the other side of the planet! Most of all ... had a son (now 18 and an amazing human).
