About Me
ABOUT ME
I alternate between boisterous and pensive, but am harmless and peaceful in either state. I am energetic, but no athlete; literate, but no book-worm; philosophical, but not religious; political, but not obnoxious; seeking joy mostly :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like people more than I admit, hosting is the next best thing to traveling, and there is no one from whom I cannot learn something.
Interests
I build stuff and fix stuff. Broken or poorly made junk aggravates me, and I can't rest until it is either fixed or torn apart for salvage which can be used to fix the next piece of junk. There is never any shortage of junk, so I am pretty busy most of the time. My favorite thing to fix is boats, so when I am not fixing, I am sailing :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy almost all music, but favor the blues. I have no affection for "slash" films nor horror in general, but otherwise I am pretty tolerant of most cinema. Mel Brooks and the Cohen brothers rarely fail. In books I prefer what I will call "popular history" like "The Americanization of Benjamin Franklin," "Killing Lincoln," and "Empire of Blue Water."
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have seen "sheet lightning" over the Gulf Stream while sailing. I was close enough to "get it," but far enough away to live.
I also once saw a moon-rise at sea over Cape Fear: words fail.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English, carpentry, and boat maintenance; I would like to learn more Spanish and French; and I would like to share my fondness of music, nature and astronomy (which is the parent of nature, I guess).
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you have broken things, I can fix them. If you have projects underway, I can help with those. If you have dirty dishes, I can wash them. Just please don't ask me to sit still too long.
