About Me
Traveling when I can, with the goal of gathering experiences and perspectives. I love meeting new people, and enjoy an evening out dancing just as much as I do a homemade dinner and movie in. I'm a singer, an engineer, a cook, a potter, and an enjoyer of the happy side of life :D
(Not hosting now, as I don't have any permanent living situation, but I'll host in the future when I can)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's the best way to travel! Ready and waiting friends, instant connections, surprising experiences. While it's always fun to stay in hostels and meet people there, I find it's also really nice to stay with a local and get their perspective. When I travel I like to do some of both!
People who are willing to welcome a stranger into their home for the chance of making a new friend, we tend to get along well! Open-minded and open-hearted, trying actively to expand their empathy and knowledge of the world. Looking forward to having a long-term place so I can also do this while not traveling.
NOT using CS just to hook up with randos - don't message me if that's your primary goal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The summer of 2019 I spent bicycling across the USA - the long way. I left from Washington, DC, and arrived in San Francisco, CA, 80 days later. As it was part of an educational initiative, I and my seven teammates stopped in towns along the way and taught Science and Engineering classes to children ages 8-18. We also camped in several national parks - Shenandoah, Mammoth Cave, Rocky Mountains, Great Basin, and Yosemite.
It was a rich experience: seeing breathtaking views, meeting new people, solving the many problems that arose. Some specific memories are being chased by dogs at every house in Kentucky, eating the best BBQ ever at Pappy's in St. Louis, the end of my first century (100 miles) into Denver, arriving at the top of the continental divide in the Rockies, and finally biking across the Golden Gate Bridge in SF!!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I really like trading recipes and experiencing the different foods we're used to. I can teach you to sew, to sing a song, to play some piano, help you with English or German. In return, I love especially learning languages, new games, and how you view the world!
What I Can Share with Hosts
My smile and optimism. Definitely cooking a good meal in or going out to eat! I'm pretty handy if anything needs fixing or Ikea furniture needs putting together. And we'll share a few laughs!
