Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Collecting oral histories from African American credit union elders
ABOUT ME
Originally from DC, I landed in Vermont in 2004, fell in love with the place, and am constantly on the look out for excuses not to leave. I'm really interested in (and write about) the history of cooperatives of all sorts (credit unions in particular), am heavily involved in my local hackerspace (Laboratory B), and also have affinities for good beer, snowshoeing, open source tech, and cryptocurrency.
PHILOSOPHY
Lots of reading and trying to take the perspective of the Other.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I was quite into CS for a few years when younger, but grad school and day-job happened and I hunkered down and got out of the loop. Now I'm entering a period of travelling projects, and am hoping to use CS as a way to meet new people while I gather oral histories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted some fun folks from Montreal and Germany.
Interests
Credit union history, linux, crypto-currency, oral history, co-ops, creating new co-ops, digital video, writing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Kevin Carson, History, the occasional pulpy sf novel.
Music: Most things that don't involve auto-tune and large record companies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got lost trying to hike Mount Mansfield at night in the wintertime...ended up sleeping in a cave and following our tracks out in the morning.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask me about the history of cooperative banking if you want to burn an afternoon. :P I can also geek out about crypto-currency, and have spent time as a computer literacy teacher, so if you want to get an old computer functional with Linux, I'm generally happy to take stab at it...
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Hungary, Jamaica, Panama, Slovenia
Countries I’ve Lived In
United States
