About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Figure out what life has to offer and what I have to offer it.

PHILOSOPHY

This may sound cheesy, but it's how I feel: "I do not regret the things I have done, but rather the things I did not do." I aim to try everything at least once and think positively of other people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just found out about CS. My friend traveled Europe sleeping on other's people couches, and although at first it sounded really unsafe to me, I've only heard of good experiences. For the moment I'm in between apartment and doing a fair amount of local travelling, but once I find an apartment, I'd like to host surfers, or possibly just go out for coffee or a drink. I've been in Montreal for 5 years now, and have gotten to know the city alot. I love showing people around, especially the little nooks and crannies that only locals know of; it makes me appreciate the city I live in that much more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far...

Interests

Professionally I'm interested in biology and political science/international development. Personally I'm interested in any kind of novelty/discovery/newness. I just like and experiencing things I've never seen before. I don't think I could live without music. I'm definetly more of a consumer of it(podcasts, cds, radio, LIVE SHOWS!!), but I do play the piano and tamtam drums. I love biking and walking, and then possibly taking random bus routes to discover a city.

Michael Franti, Ben Harper, Peter Tosh, The Roots, K'naan, Talib Kweli, D'cisive, Tom Waits, Timber Timbre, Leif Vollebekk, Plants and Animals, Pree, Girl Talk, Ratatat, Dapinknoise, Winter Gloves, Gogol Bordello, Charlotte Cornfield, La Roux, Question Mark and the Mysterians, the Dodos, Toots and the Maytals, Karkwa, Malajube, Lemonade, Polipe, Jacques Dutronc, Manu Chao, Tinariwen and the classics: the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, the Beatles, the Yardbirds, Bowie... and so much more
Movies: I've seen more movies than I can remember. I have no particular favorites, just whatever I'm in the mood for. Really intense ones include Primer, A Scanner Darkly, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Harvard Man...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Working in a hospital in Ghana, west Africa.
2) Snorkeling in cenotes on the Mayan Coast of Mexico.
3) Walking on a volcano in Costa Rica.
4) Sky diving.
5) Finished a triathlon.
6) Finished CityChase (like the Amazing race, but within a city. Actually a really awesome experience. Happens in cities in Canada, US, and in a few European countries)
7) Finished my undergraduate degree.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't have any particular skills, but I do have an infinite vault of random knowledge. I acquire information like its my job, and I like letting out little bits of it once in awhile. There is rarely a subject I haven't read up on (except maybe technology... eh, i'm sort of a ludite). I was a competitive swimmer and diver, and would be able to teach someone how to swim, and snorkel, and anything water related i'm a natural at. I would like to learn more German/practice my German, learn to surf, and to knit.
