Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've made some great friends and climbing partners through the site, and recommend it often. I just had great experiences with it meeting other solo travelers in Venice.

Interests

Spending time with quality people, drawing and painting and writing and more rarely guitar— I have a lot of interests on rotation.

Music, Movies, and Books

There are too many authors I like to mention here, same with movies and books, I like to think I appreciate a wide spectrum in all of these. That being said here are a few faves: Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities, Catherine Dunn, Geek Love. Arthur C Clark, Asimov, John Scalzi, Rudi Rucker, Beat Generation writers, Gary Snyder, Jack Kerouac. Movies, Wes Anderson, Werner Herzog, Fight Club, I could fill page here, really.... TV, Twin Peaks, Star Trek The Next Generation, Game of Thrones, HBO in general seems to do a pretty good job.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Progressed from sport climbing in the American mostly flat Midwest to alpine multi pitch in Colorado. (Little cliffs to much bigger cliffs and the corresponding skill sets.)

Teach, Learn, Share

Some outdoorsy stuff, hiking, backpacking gear, sport, trad, multipitch climbing. Editing, writing, some computer programs, harmonica.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you harmonica, I’m an OK cook, pretty decent at massage, and since I do facilities management for a living, if you have something broken in your apartment, there’s a good chance I can fix it.
