HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I did a lot of hosting about 8 years ago as a way of meeting great people in my city, and I couch surfed a couple of times in Melbourne.

I absolutely love this massive network of people worldwide that are tangibley (is that a word?) linked to each other and giving the human factor to our travel experiences. Go humans!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

How lucky am I? I live in this quiet little city where many people get up, go to work and go home again, getting an early night so they're ready to do the same thing again tomorrow, and on weekends they clean the car or catch up on some weeding.

But not me! Oh no! I have a constant stream of interesting, open, genuine, friendly, intelligent, trustworthy, considerate, helpful and caring people coming to my place and sharing a little part of their lives with me (brings a wee tear to my eye!)

I think I've hosted what must be some of the most amazing people on the planet... just everyday people with stories that are so unique, and at the same time their experiences are universal to us all. I've stayed in contact with a number of the couch surfers I hosted 8 years ago, and am happy to call them my long term friends.
