Overview
About Me
Originally from Romania, I am currently a Fulbright student following a masters program on communication for non-profits in NYC. I moved to New York in the midst of a pandemic and have been in awe watching the city's resilient and energetic return to life! No matter how much I've come to love New York, I realize that there are so many views on the world and ways of life that lie outside the city, in the larger US, and for this summer I'm set out to discover some of them. I plan to travel around the country and document my trip for the folks back home, through the places that I see, but mostly the people I meet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This is my first time looking to travel within the US and I want to share what I discover about it with the people from back home through a project that I’ve entitled Notes on the New World. And what better way to do that than getting to know the beautiful locals willing to share not only their country but also their home with those who wish to explore it?
I am at the beginning of this experience but I am confident that this is an amazing community of people, worth getting to know and finally become part of.
I am fully vaccinated and have been very responsible about Covid throughout the entire pandemic which thankfully meant that I managed to stay infection-free!
Interests
⭐️I am an active person, so I love walking in nature, hiking and simply moving around.
⭐️I have a background in theater which sparked my interest in all arts and cultural movements, especially those that are anchored in the day's reality and become a manifest for society.
⭐️My strong passion for nutrition translates in trying out new vegetarian dishes and trying to get creative in the kitchen.
⭐️As much as I love a night in, having dinner with friends, I also enjoy a good night out, dancing around to electronic music, listening to jam sessions or just walking the streets at night.
⭐️I feel best in nature and around animals and I belive in making an effort to keep them healthy and happy, that's why I believe in Eco programs, organic farming and living a sustainable life which I hope to get to one day.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a passion for non-fiction, be it documentaries about underground artists, essays on minimalism or travel journals. Am currently reading Steinbeck’s “Travels with Charlie”, about the road trip he went on across the US. I have a long list of films that I want to see and I’m more than happy to share it with those looking for recommendations!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few summers back I have hitchhiked from Romania to Berlin. That sometimes meant sitting in the frying July sun for 5 hours while waiting for a car to stop, sleeping along the riverside in Krakow or walking 15km at noon until a good hitchhike point. But more than that, it meant the best conversations with people I knew I won't see again, great generosity from strangers that have later on become friends and a way of coming out of the bubble I was living in and seeing different views on life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I made it my summer project to learn about the US, not only by seeing some of it, but especially through talking to locals about how they experience the country, especially as it is moving forward from this past year’s crisis.
