ABOUT ME
Carina was having difficulty writing this herself. It will be more honest if I tell you instead. Describing her is challenging because no cliches suffice but all the good ones fit. She's kind, fun-loving, full of sunshine and will share this sincerity with you unashamedly; but she understands the importance of personal space, so never imposes. She's optimistic and resourceful and up for any adventure, especially spontaneous last minute ones. And though she may sing and skip her way around, barefooted, she's grounded like no other person, informed and au courant. Her sense of responsibility to the well-being of those around her is astonishing. She (genuinely) brightens every moment and leaves her handprint on your heart. Just ask anyone who's met her. I give my word; so give her your couch.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am always dreaming of the next spots I will visit and explore. I have only had happy, safe, eye-opening experiences of Couchsurfing, and some of the best friends that I have made while travelling have been through Couchsurfing. In my old age I'm realising that it's easier and easier to take the easy quiet options when I'm exploring, but being part of this community is definitely helping me to keep finding people I would otherwise never have encountered.
I have hosted people from all over the world in most of the houses I've lived over the years in Cape Town and Johannesburg, but it's always been through other more informal networks. I would love to use the network more formally once I'm in a host-friendly home again.
Interests
I am passionate about learning global strategies towards resistance of repression. In my work I have focused mostly on protest and gathering rights.
I love to find the small, hidden music spots in each city I visit, and to get to know a place by following the local musicians.
There's also nothing that makes me happier than being in the mountains and swimming in rivers.
