About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To serenade the world with the love songs I will write it. I'm also going to start singing. In public. For money. This has been a long time coming.

I just sold almost everything I own, left my beloved kitty with a friend and spent a week in both Seattle and Portland (where I ate waaaaaay too much vegan food!) before catching a one-way flight to Montréal on March 3rd. I think I'll likely be here at least a month while I try to sort out some former landlord stuff, though I may also stick around permanently, as I want to learn French. And I want to get to some of the places on this side of the continent that I've never seen, like the Maritimes, New York and Nashville.

ABOUT ME

I like singing, baking, writing, reading, thrift store shopping and walking. I'm eco-conscious, vegan (but still open-minded) and do my best to remain optimistic in this world.

I've come to find that the first place I head when I'm in a new place is the library. That might make me a nerd, but I like to think I'm a lovable one, at least.

Future pursuits include learning to play the guitar, sew, hula hoop and knit.

PHILOSOPHY

Always leave things/places/people better than you found them.

"A year from now, you'll regret that you didn't start today."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, I've been fortunate enough to crash on some friends' couches (who were already on Couchsurfing), which helped ease me into it. I also stayed with a few "strangers" while in Seattle and Portland, though I did know two of the three from the Internet already (the vegan community is like that haha).

I've just finished school and I'm working on busking, freelancing stories to magazines (as I'm now a journalist or something!) and prepping an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign I plan to launch asap for a summer camp I'm planning for vegans (adults only!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've only surfed (I tried to host several times a couple of years ago, but everyone always flaked at the last minute :/ ), but it's been great! I love seeing how other people live and getting to meet such lovely folks with great experiences and ideas to share - both of which are very eye-opening and inspiring!

Music - Michael Franti, Xavier Rudd, The Wailin' Jennys, Jeremy Fisher, Dirty Heads, Sublime, Daniel Wesley, Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Harper, Coco Love Alcorn, The Dudes, The Dixie Chicks, Serena Ryder, The Trews, The Duhks, Eric Hutchinson, Florence and the Machine, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, She & Him...and so on and so forth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Packing everything into my car and not knowing where I was going to move to later that day was an adventure that took me to Squamish - and kept me there for 14 months! I knew when I woke up the next morning and saw how gorgeous it was that I was sticking around.

What I Can Share with Hosts
