About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Carita and I am from Finland. I love to travel the excitement of it all–feeling like an explorer–discovering a new land, a new language, new money and all the little challenges that go along with it. When I travel, I am more spontaneous and don’t live for the future or the past… just in the moment. Being impulsive and saying ‘yes’ to nearly everything is part of the fun

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

it’s great way to fully experience another culture, and it’s definitely a good way to escape from that safe little bubble that surrounds so many travelers, and protects them from really integrating themselves into the cultures of the places they visit. Not knowing what to expect is a nerve-wracking feeling, but also an exciting one, and is very often rewarding.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Couple of years ago I was Backpacking in Southes Asia. I’ve heard nothing can prepare a traveler for their first days in Southeast Asia. I agree. I love the challenge of arriving to a city where you know very little about the culture, nothing about the language and being forced to make your own way.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning about other cultures in school is one thing, but actually experiencing a culture is completely different. Whether you’re visiting art museums, looking at grand architectural landmarks, or even just stopping for a coffee break in a happening café, traveling exposes you to people and lifestyles that are completely different than anything you’ve probably encountered back at home. Before you know it, you’ll be picking up on local customs and falling in love with food you can barely even pronounce.
