About Me

I'm Carl, 19 years old backpacking around the United States on my own before University, having arrived from the UK. My plan was to originally go up to San Francisco and see about getting some work, but after I spent a few nights cruising in LA, my sense of adventure was too much to reject!

I'm super outgoing and open-minded, up for any sport, event, party and experience in general. I love talking to people, understanding their ideas and what makes them tick.

It was all very last minute the decision to travel, so I have no plans. This means my requests might be last minute. I don't know what city I will be in next, which is part of the fun!

PHILOSOPHY
Stay positive and collaborate with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see as much of the States as possible! The people, the culture, it's all so different to me. On top, the land here is beautiful, the longer I can be out here the better. Couch surfing I know will open more corridors to meet not a lot of people, but real people. Locals who know the areas and can teach me.

Interests

I'm going to be studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at University, so if I talk about these a lot, I'm sorry. :)

I'm never rude about either, I'm actually more interested in understanding why people think otherwise to myself, so arguing is not a thing for me right now.

I love sport and cooking, practising Yoga, Soccer and Mountain Climbing back home, met with me being vegetarian and a frequent cook. Always happy to share recipes, ideas and whilst about. Definitely not fussy or whiny though!

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading 'A Penguin History of the United States'. Also a book on Spanish and other poetry anthologies. Mostly Phil/Pol non-fic, but a lot of classic fiction as well.

Big fan of classic rock, but also modern indie music. But always super open as well, never am I listening to just 1 style.

Art-house films are my usual number 1, big Wes Anderson fan. Also a fan of horror movies and foreign cinema.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most Amazing thing I've ever done was climbed the 2nd tallest mountain in the Pyrenees, the view of the flat of the land being looked over by the wave of the mountains was incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

Knowledge is the ultimate sharing dish. As i learn new information its a pleasure to talk to people about it, and then have it contributed to by their own thoughts. By being taught about the world and teaching what I know about it, I find myself becoming so much more aware and empathetic to everything around me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am super tidy, always keeping my stuff organised in a corner. I can cook really good vegetarian food and relish making food for others. There's no problem in tidying up mess and doing dishes when needed. I'm good with Animals having had a cat and a dog at home, and am fantastic at looking after children.
