About Me

(Trying to sound mature:) My life is on the move.

(Attempt failed:) Above all, just a spontaneous and opinionated/sarcastic nerd who (still) likes Mickey Mouse and other rodents in his blooming early twenties.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I’m tired of collecting postcards. Instead, I am looking to collect interactions and experiences. On a deeper (high-sounding) level, it’s for the pure reason that I can meet you, and if I meet enough of ‘you’, I’ll meet myself.

Interests

My biggest interest is to explore the interests of others. Otherwise I am drawn into politics, board games, photography, visual design, solo traveling, writing & reading, language learning, social work and volunteering, art galleries and exhibitions, and stand-up comedy.

Music, Movies, and Books

R&B, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Pop. / Mariah Carey./ Woody Allen, Wong Kar-wai; horror, thriller, dystopia/utopia, political satire, parody, comedy, cheesy love story, and documentary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started traveling solo (a quasi backpacking trip with my first hostelling experience) at the age of 15, spending a full week in Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai, Thailand. I was not legally allowed to travel alone or check into a hotel and my dad had to sign a responsibility waiver at the airport. But I made the trip anyways and there, on the sandy beach of Phuket, I wrote down “Carl, Travel the World”.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can spare you some of my redundant social credits (upon presentation of your criminal record).

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good conversation. Cultural exchange. Bad jokes. Depending on local supplies I can also cook some of my favorite Chinese food. I also love packing a little something with me as a thank-you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao, Macedonia, Malaysia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States, Viet Nam
