"Il se répéta "une femme comme elle, une femme comme elle" mais comment était-elle donc?"
Hey there!
Phil - the awkward English, main man in the picture- and I are currently living in Manchester. We are trying to escape the monotony that a sedentary and repetitive life will inevitably lead to and this is why we decided to open the doors (the three doors) of our tiny, yet cozy, house.
Briefly, we are literature lovers, with a special interest in Islamic history (especially the Sicilian Islamic period), a devotion for George Orwell, Proust and a cult for Georges Brassens, the only, the poet, the best. We also sympathize with Ganesha by the way. Cinematography plays an important role in our household and we try to always keep updated with both the new and the old. We travel and move a lot, so we are not always here, but when we are we love having people around, growing plants, yeast and making bread and lighting up candles at night.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I -Carla- travelled a lot through Couchsurfing, especially (and extensively) in eastern Europe. We did try to travel using Couchsurfing as a couple (first in Scotland and then in Thailand) but our requests got miserably ignored. So far (almost) all my experiences with Couchsurfing have been pleasant and, in some cases, really good. The idea at the base of the site, sharing for free and trusting complete strangers, is one I love. This is the first time we have the chance to host properly, being the first time we live in a house (not that we lived outside before, long story).
Interests
Phil has this obsession with religious architecture ( especially cathedrals) although he does not know much about Jewish architectural heritage. I know, interesting, isn't it?
We both love growing things - except I am not very good at it, but Phil makes it possible to grow basil even in the darkest hours. I am currently making my own yeast and bread. It does sound pretentious, but we both are very openminded people and we also are good listeners (a quality that is not to give for granted). Between the two of us, we have travelled a lot, and I can well say it is one of our main passions.
