About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make it a point to meet a local in each place I visit rather than just do some sightseeing.

ABOUT ME

I like traveling and meeting new people. I like riding buses and train rides. I like going to the beach. I like rainy season and watching movies and coffee. I feel like this belongs to the "interest" section but I don't really know what to say about me. ^_^

Interests

I've started a blog, it's a bit messy but if you wanna know what I've been up to recently, it's here: happynomad.net

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: a lot but some old time favorites are Solitaire Mystery, Dean Koontz' Lightning, Great Expectation, Friday Night Lights, Watership Down etc.

Movies: So many but there's one movie that I can relate to so much - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Especially people who has a 9-5 job but travels nonetheless, can relate to this so much. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Music: I've been a fan of Coldplay for more than a decade now. The rest, it changes all the time. Right now, I'm listening to the movie Nerve's OST.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm, nothing extra-ordinary as a lot of people have done it here. But I guess going on my first trip abroad by myself (Vietnam) and learning to look out for myself. Spending 15 to 17 hours on a train, hungry as I've ran out of local currency, no wifi access. That was crazy.

Traveling alone to Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea. Relying on the kindness of strangers ( it makes me believe in leap of faith and that there are still a lot of good people in this world). That is more amazing than anything I've done.

Also, this.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been thankful to strangers who helped me out so much in my previous travels so I would really love to pay it forward. Right now my sister is staying with me so I can't host but I can:

- show you around Manila. If you want to see the old Manila ( Divisoria, Binondo, etc ). Since I moved here only a few years ago, I don't know my way around sometimes but I can always ask local people. If you like murals and loves walking around, I can go with you to Bonifacio Global City ( BGC ).

- can go with you as far as Tagaytay if I have the time.

- can give tips and itinerary suggestions for places outside Manila.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am hoping to make friends rather than just acquaintances through CS. I would be very happy to share anything my host wants to know about my country, our culture, or travel experiences.

If there is anything at all that you'd like me to bring you from my country except fruits and anything that I can't get through the airport, please let me know. ^.^

Also, I have utilized the My Home photo section and put up photos of places here in the Philippines that I've been to so far. If you're headed there and need some information about them, ask away. :)

Countries I’ve Visited
