About Me

Hey there!

A few years ago, I used to host travelers in my little apartment in Stockholm. These days, life looks completely different — I’ve traded that apartment for a backpack and made the world my home. Travelling isn’t just something I do anymore, it’s become a core part of who I am. I’ve spent the last few years exploring Africa, Latin America, and wherever the road takes me next, meeting amazing people and learning something new in every place.

What I love the most about travelling is the human side of it — those long talks with strangers who suddenly feel like old friends, the shared meals, the laughter over cultural mix-ups, and those quiet moments when you realize how alike we all really are.

I’m easygoing, curious, and grateful for every person who crosses my path. Whether it’s hiking up a mountain, getting lost in a city, or just swapping stories over coffee, I’m always up for a genuine connection.

Hope our paths cross somewhere out there!

Best Regards Carl

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even though my soul will always be Swedish—and part of me will always prefer pressing stoically through life with my emotions contained—I’m deeply grateful for all the incredible people I’ve met around the world. You’ve melted my Nordic heart, and I’ll forever cherish the wisdom, kindness, and love I’ve received while traveling.

I’m on Couchsurfing because I’m a genuine traveler at heart. I don’t travel to boost my status or fill my feed with photos, but to connect and understand cultures on a deeper level. There’s something magical about sitting down with someone from another culture, discovering our differences and similarities one question at a time, laughing at the little things, and admiring what makes each person unique. The time flies and you realize that you have made a friend for life. That is what Couchsurfing is about for me.

Interests

I’m passionate about exploring — not just places, but ideas, cultures, and people. Travelling has become the heartbeat of my life, and I find inspiration in everything from bustling city streets to remote mountain trails. I love slow, meaningful travel — staying long enough to really feel a place and understand its rhythm.

When I’m not on the move, you’ll probably find me hiking somewhere beautiful, cycling down backroads, or getting lost in a good conversation about life, tech, or philosophy. I’m fascinated by how people live differently around the world and yet share so many of the same dreams.

I’m also a bit of a foodie and love discovering the local way of eating — whether that’s a tiny taco stand in Mexico City, a shared family meal in the mountains, or a homemade Swedish fika. For me, those shared experiences are what make travel special.

I will add more things here as I remember them

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* Hiked for 17 unforgettable days through the Himalayas in Nepal — an experience that tested my limits and left me in awe of nature’s beauty.

* Spent three incredible months living in San Francisco — probably the best chapter of my life so far, full of creativity, new friendships, and inspiring energy.

* Trekking through the Virunga Forest to come face to face with mountain gorillas — one of the most humbling moments I’ve ever experienced.

* Worked remotely across Africa for a year, calling Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Africa home — each place teaching me something different about life.

* Lived two unforgettable years in Mexico City — a city that stole my heart with its color, chaos, and warmth.

* Spent two amazing months cycling across Japan, from the southern tip of Cape Toi all the way to Tokyo — a journey where I learned to love solitude and appreciate the humble nature of the Japanese people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to poach an egg, program something or take you biking and of course share a lot of travel experiences :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Possibly my knowledge of Stockholm which is quite decent. I have lived in the larger Stockholm area my whole life and the central areas for the last 3 years.

I enjoy hanging out with our guests (what is otherwise the point of hosting someone) This, of course, depends on our current schedule, but usually we try to put in at least one day of showing our guests around the city. If you prefer to explore the city yourself then feel free to do so then you'll be sent off with some recommendations instead :)

* My everyday life contains hanging out with friends in restaurants/cafes/bars all around the city.

* I like hiking and can provide you with areas close to Stockholm with good hiking opportunities. (i might even tag along if we feel up for it :)

* I am somewhat knowledgeable about beers and can recommend bars with a great beer assortment. (I can also recommend really cheap bars if that's your thing :)
