About Me

My name is Carla and I´m 42. I travel with my family and they are: David (42), Roberto(11) and Greta(9). We are from Canary Islands, Spain, and we lived there untill 2018.

Carla: I am a happy person, resolutive, social and extrovert. Several times people have told me that I am the glue that put people together or make them connect. Academically I studied physics and I worked in research at university and I also studied music. But when I became mother, all these were secondary and I start to research about conscious parenting, lead learning, unschooling and later, in worldschooling… because we started to travel in 2018, I’ll tell you more about that later, but since that year, I have invented myself many times and I have several courses and I work as a mentor for families in worldschooling and unshooling. I also love crafting and I have started now to paint a travel sketch book with watercolours. Last year I become a Spanish teacher as a foreign language, so yes, I can teach you Spanish!

David is my husband; he is kind with people and he will always help you if he can. He is electrician, electromechanic, knows about industrial automatization, industrial refrigeration and he has worked for many years in the field of elevators. He is the ultimate handyman. Since 2018 he has an online business of electromechanical and campervan consultant. He loves music and he used to play in a rock-metal band, he plays drums. He cook some typical Spanish food that you probably love.

Roberto (11 years old): He loves nature and biking, but most of all, he is a gamer and he plays online with many many friends.

Greta ( 9 years old): she is an artist. She loved crafts, and now she is doing a course of digital illustration, that she is loving. She is fun an extrovert.

Since 2018 we travel together as a family in a journey to learn, create and grow. We use the term worldschool to define our philosophy, learning from the world, but over all, from or through the people in the world. I believe that people are the principal transmitters of a culture and as a family we always choose to be where there are other families or people, because it makes our life easier at new places. We travel in our campervan if we are in Europe, but we just travel with our bags if we go further. We have been in Thailand and Mexico. In Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, England, Sweden, our last stay was in Norway, where we worked there in hotel.

We have done also pet sitting, taking care of the pets of other people, and we have share house with many families during all these years. So we know how to cohabitate, we are easy people, we try to communicate well, respect others space and stuff, and we try to create a good atmosphere, interacting with people, talking, helping and even repairing or improving anything that is in our hand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We would love to stay with other families, because this is our way of traveling. We usually travel in our campervan in Europe and we do it through community, that means that we go where there are other families doing something or just to discover a place toguether. People are the door to a new things and also to more people so there is no better way to discover a place like through people. And we love making connections around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

We like all music, but we have a preference for rock metal. We like action movies, Marvel, Starwars... but also anime and disney. A bit of everuthing actually

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before we had kids David and I did skydiving and it was amazing!. Then being parents its something amazing by itself and we try to live every moment! We actually dont have a house where to come back, just our van, although we do have some home places like Tenerife, Valencia and i would say now, Norway. Some places where we come back and it's home, because we have family, friends, or just our roots in the case of Tenerife.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach Spanish, mechanics. David is also a drummer ...

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are very adaptable, we have shared and colive with many families on the road. We are respectfull and keep the place as if it were ours. David always fix something on the way, he can't avoid notice when something it's leaking, not worlking, or whatever that it is that is malfunctioning and start thinking on how to fix it. We are joyful family and we have many adventures to share. We also always cook our favorite dishes to people.
