About Me

Hey there,

I'm Carlia as you already know. I'm currently studying overseas in England for a semester before finally graduating next year! While I'm over here I'm trying to see and experience as much of Europe as I can squeeze in.

I'm friendly and would love someone to show me around their city but I'm also really happy wandering around myself. I really love going to see live music and finding new bands. I'm getting pretty into photography and will spend whole days walking around trying to find good street art. I also love to explore a city through food and am a fiend for Japanese food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on here because I've always wanted to try this. Some of my friends host people back home and we always have a blast with them and make some fantastic friendships that we still keep.

All of my best travel experiences have been made by the people I have been with and the conversations I have had. I think its incredible how when you have such a limited amount of time with someone you get to the really deep, good conversation so quickly. I have had nights talking about technology and existentialism with people I have just met but felt closer to them than people I've known for years.

Thats sort of what I'm searching for here. Good conversation and someone to help me discover things I otherwise might not.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music I dig a bit of everything but will usually be listening to indie pop/rock. I like to spend time finding new artists and going to see live shows. Currently listening to a lot of Brisbane artists; Sundara Karma; Luca Brasi; and lots of British bands from Sheffield where I'm currently located.

I love to read, usually some kind of travel or music memoir and classics. Currently reading Bill Brysons 'Notes from a Small Island' and 'An Intimate History of Rough Trade.'
The two best books I have ever read are 'Life' which is Keith Richards memoir and is a brilliant way to rediscover the Rolling Stones music while laughing incredibly hard at some of the stuff they got up to. The other book is 'On the Trail of Ghengis Khan.' This book is incredible and has fuelled my need to travel so intensely.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand and then skydived over the surrounding area a few days later to see both perspectives. Such an incredible area.

I also can't leave out the absolutely nuts thing I felt I was doing when I packed a suitcase and moved my life overseas for six months. Craziest, most amazing and intense thing I have ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to help anyone looking for some help with their English and I am always really interested in learning about other cultures and languages. I love food so I can make you my favourite dish that is a take on spaghetti bolognese with carrot pasta and eggplant!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook my favourite meals for you and share lots of stories and conversation.
