23 years old from Maine, USA

Lived my life in and around Maine for these 22 years which have been an experience in itself. Im from Bangor, Maine but spent my summers in Bar Harbor, Maine (popular tourist attraction). I would work each summer and hike, swim, run and rock climb around the island on my days off. I love Maine and everything it has to offer besides the winter months, but I needed something new. I decided to change things up and see what Europe had to offer!

Ive been studying Ecology and Environmental Science at the University of Maine in Orono for the past 4 years which has been great. For my last semester at the University I only had electives left so I decided to take them somewhere far away. I am now Studying Abroad at The Hague University in The Netherlands till the end of July 2017, studying European Studies and hoping to learn some Spanish.

In July 2017 I will spend the rest of my summer in Spain with my roommate I just met in the Netherlands! Which is very exciting minus my basic Spanish skills. After September my plans are free and open to new adventures!

Moving to Europe has been such an amazing transition from the small towns in Maine that Im use to.

My passions include anything related to the Environment! All outdoor activities, sitting in nature, and preserving it are a must. I love everything and anything related to Sustainability practices. I am traveling to find my own place in the world where my ideals and passions match the environment around me.

Exploring Europe as much as I can while I try to figure out life. Hoping to meet some exciting people and add to the never ending list of experiences and stories to share when I do visit home again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to join Couchsurfing after talking to friends that have been doing it for sometime now! I was jealous, excited, and anxious to see what experiences I too could have. Also being a poor traveling student is difficult and this made traveling more realistic and possible.

I love meeting new people as I am very social and outgoing. I come from a very large family which has helped expand my social realm. As much as I love to travel and stay at a nice hotel, theres something that hotels always lack beside the price difference. I would much rather travel and meet locals who know what places to visit and where to avoid, as well as special off the grid places that one couldn't find on their own.

This seems to be the best option to really meet locals, gain travel knowledge and stories and ideas I would never envision on my own. I do enjoy traveling through AirBnB but theres something you miss out on when you don't get to know the people your staying around. I would love this side of couchsurfing, learning about anything and everything that people want to share.

I am outgoing, social, easy to talk to person and accepting of pretty much everything! Im very interested in traveling around and gaining new knowledge from experiences, people and places I visit. I love to see how people live and how different it is where I come from!

Wherever I do end up next, I would like to host those traveling to experience the other side that couchsurfing has to offer!
