Max and I work full-time in beautiful Jasper National Park. I work in sales and marketing for Marmot Basin Ski Area and Max is a Conference Services Manager for the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

We have a small dog named Jones. I am Canadian and Max is very Dutch and is also fluent in German.

We have a private guest room with a queen sized bed and live on the main road in Jasper close to the town centre.

We host once a week, preferably on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the week we both leave for work at 7am and work until 6pm, so you would have to leave very early.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love hosting family, friends, and travellers, especially because we live in such a beautiful place. It's fun to explore it with people who are visiting for the first or tenth time. My best experiences in other countries were staying with local people rather than a hostel.

Interests

We like to do longer day hikes and backcountry hikes (10-40km), we bike around town and Max bikes to work, Jones gets two walks a day on the trail across from our house, beer/wine, going to the beach, in the winter we ski quite a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of music and movies. I read at least one book per month. Most that I have read recently are Canadian books that have won awards along with one Dutch book. I am now trying some British books thanks to our roommate.

Some great Canadian books to read are: Ru, Nikolski, The Orenda, February, and The Sentimentalists. A long but epic Dutch book: The Discovery of Heaven.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studying abroad for 6 months during University in the Norwegian Arctic Circle where I met Max-Peter and travelled around Europe. The following summer we lived in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado doing internships and travelled almost every weekend to US National and State Parks in the mid-west. We lived in Prince George, BC the past 2.5 years while I did my masters, and we recently moved back to the Rocky Mountains!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I used to work at the Jasper Info Centre so have lots of information about things to do here, nice hikes, good restaurants etc. I grew up in BC so can share info for people travelling along to there. We are also familiar with the Yukon and Alaska.
