About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Well, this is just a way of exploring the world while young, willing and able. I wanna get knocked down and I wanna have the greatest of times!

ABOUT ME

Hi there, everybody!

I'm a 21 year old guy from a small town in southern Sweden. After 19 years of boredom I moved to Stockholm, which I love. Right now though, I feel I must conquer the world, or at least get to know it somehow. I will take a longer trip through South America, Central America and USA, starting in Rio de Janeiro!

As a person I guess I'm a kind humorous guy with a lot of love and a passion for music. Music is kinda what my life is based on, playing the keyboards and drums for several years in bands and such.

I would be so thankful if I find someone kind who would give me their couch to sleep in over my visits. First stop, Rio! :)

/Carl

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem.

Naaaaaaah, really?! "Live long and prosper" is more like it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I started my trip in mid december, I had no experience from CS at all, but I've been couchsurfing since I got to Rio, and it has been just great. Great way to meet people; local people!

Interests

I guess I have to write music first thing. I play a lot here in Stockholm with my two bands; a blues and a pop band. Regarding the instrument, I mainly play keyboards, but hey, I can get through on guitar and drums too.

Music is such a wide concept, I know. What music do I like? Well, I'm all a 60's-70's guy. You know, I'm one of those I-would-do-anything-to-experience-Woodstock-'69-kinda guy. Etc. Etc. Don't get scared, I'm not the narrow-minded type. I like all kinds of other music too!

The South American music culture is something I'd really like to explore. It feels interesting, so goin' all around South America will be lots o' fun!

I've got more interests than music, but it takes up a whole lotta time really... :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Doors, The Band, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Beach Boys, Beatles, Van Morrison, Bon Iver, Grateful Dead, Bo Hansson, Wilco, Peter LeMarc, America, Fleetwood Mac, Canned Heat... You know this list won't come to an end if I don't force me to stop...

Movies: My list contains mostly classics. The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, (I actually don't like The Godfather), Into the Wild, Pulp Fiction, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Milk, Star Wars.
I can quote like the whole The Last Waltz if you wanna know, a concert/documentary movie about The Band.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen Roger Waters perform The Wall twice. Don't really know how to top that, if we speak musically experiences.

I was just recently at the Copacabana Beach for New Years Eve, which was an incredible expreience too. The South American music culture is something I'd really like to explore. It feels interesting, so goin' all around South American. About two million people gathering on the beach, and with these enormous fireworks, it was really cool!

Besides that, I don't have much to brag about, and that's really the whole reason I'm on this trip right know!
