As an open-minded, tolerant, and very independent person the world has been an open door. The world we live in is full of such incredible people, beautiful sights, sounds, and unbelievable opportunities for those who are willing – to capture them. If you are willing to simply open your eyes, you can guarantee happiness every day of your life.

I simply adore traveling and connecting with novel people. I am definitely not shy, and for this reason I am capable of meeting these opportunities very easily. I enjoy individuality as well as diverse cultures and languages. These are the most important reasons for which I wish to travel the world.

LEONIE:
I would describe myself as a responsible and honest person. I am a very friendly person, and despite any circumstance, it is always important for me to make others happy no matter what it takes. I am also an attentive listener; I can spend hours listening to the everyday worries of my loved ones. I believe that they appreciate my advice, because it is at all times as honest as it can be. It is a sort of paradox that I love travelling, exploring new places, and meeting new people, but at first I am always very shy. Nonetheless, once I am more comfortable I am silly and love to make jokes no matter the embarrassments. People inspire me. Fun fact: I am probably the only person on earth who thinks that whales are sincerely petrifying.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Together with my girlfriend, we are currently on a world tour for approximately ten months. Having graduated from college we now wish to seize the opportunity to go on a journey of self-discovery before life demands more responsibility from us. Once in university, we will be faced with real life, a job, saving money, starting a family and so on. There will not be another chance in life for us to travel, see the world and broaden our horizons.
I think that having the courage to live abroad is helping us to grow personally and offers an unforgettable experience for both of us. We want to make decisions on our own, achieve independence, and become more responsible. By facing unknown situations and challenges we shall develop the qualities to become the most independent we have ever been.
In this profile you will find both, a description of my girlfriend and me. Since on our journey we are looking for couches as a couple, two separate profiles would not be the best way to find a suitable place to stay.

Interests

Traveling of course is my greatest obsession. It is my pursuit of happiness, my purpose of life.
I like to enjoy the outdoors as well as sports such as basketball, swimming, bicycling, skating, and hiking or anything else active. In addition I take pleasure in nature, animals and the wildness.
Art, Movies, Literature and Music are outlets for me to express myself in the most intimate and creative way. Recently, I have become quite interested in cooking. My mother and grandmother have already taught me how to cook several meals however, I would love to broaden my practical cooking skills, especially with recipes from other countries and cultures.

LEONIE:
I have many interests in many things, and the people around me inspire me to explore even more. I enjoy capturing moments with my camera, I enjoy a good meal, and I love nature, particularly the forest and the sea. I believe on the other hand that music is one of my biggest interests. I love art, I cannot say that I am a talented artist, nevertheless I love it. I love to read; I can read a good book in a couple of hours. With my boyfriend I can talk about philosophy for hours. And last, but not least: I love traveling, which in some way can combine all of my interests!

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore all of these three things so it shouldn’t be hard to find some genres or titles to list.
Music means most to me in my life, I have spent a lot of time listening and searching for music. I simply like what sounds good to me, starting from Electro, Techno, and House music up to Indie and in some cases, even classical music.
Movies and series are another passion of mine, going as far as wanting to become a film producer in the future. I mostly enjoy drama, comedy and action/science fiction films such as “Lucy”, “In Time”, “Avatar” and “Inception”
The only books I read this year were schoolbooks due to how important of a year it has been. I would love to finally get the chance to read some books that I have always wanted to read. There are so many authors whose books I already read and really liked. Jonathan Safran Foer, Oscar Wilde, Joanne K. Rowling and John Green are only a few to mention at this point.

Throughout my life and all the places I have travelled, I have seen countless things, but the majority of the most amazing things that I have seen or done have been within this world tour.

I am sure that I am going to feel at home even abroad because of the simple fact that I am passionate about sharing, celebrating, and enjoying new cultures and traditions. I would very much like to learn about other cultures and the mentalities that other persons have. I trust that the best way to increase the knowledge of important things in life is travel, since it implies to share with others.
