About Me
Hi everyone!
My name is Carlos and I'm from Madrid, Spain.
I'm currently in Australia, starting my Work&Holiday adventure! For the moment I have been in Melbourne, solving getting my licences, bank account, phone number, etc... But finally now I'm arriving into Tasmania to work in a winery!
About me:
I'm an easy-going and nive man passionate about travelling and good conversations. The thing I like the most is reading and writting. When I was 18 years old I started to study engineering, but soon I realised that was not my path in life... It took me a long time, but finally I changed to philosophy, wich I studied in the university.
Although I finished this degree, I realized that the truly inportant knowledge in this life is not obtained in the academic field. For that, I stopped my current job (I had an academy where I taught maths and physics) and started searching for new challenges. I went to France where I worked several months in the countryside, I worked in Madrid in a harm-reduction unit giving social and medical support to drug-addicts, I travelled as much as I could through Europe... and now I'm here, in Australia, open to find the next vital aventure in a world that each day I consider more and more a infinite field full of opportunities.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
SOME YEARS AGO I travelled trough Europe with a friend, meeting a lot of people thanks to Couchsurfing... Let see this time!
The cities that I liked the most were those where I met locals who showed me their favorite places, their customs, where they lived ... that's why, when I was told about couchsurfing, I did not heasitate and I made an account, hoping to meet people with similar interests to mine who wanted to show me the city where they lived.
Now I'm more interested in the countryside, so I guess I am in couchsurfing to learn how is to live on a farm or rural place, the type of locations where I want to work in this beautiful country.

Music, Movies, and Books
I LOVE READING and writting. My favorite writers are Hermann Hesse, Ernest Hemingway, Goethe, Julio Cortázar, Virginia Woolf, Nietzsche, Borges, Bolaño, Whitman, Dostoievski...
Any australian writer I should read? Let me know!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I LOVE TRAVELLING on my own, only with a backpack with some clothes, a canteen, a couple of books and a notebook to write and paint, taking trains or walking from one place to another, staying at hostels or local's places.
It is my dream to save some money and buy a van where I can live at the same time as I travel and work.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love literature, specially classic books from the 19th and 20th century. It all started with Hemingway, Faulkner, García Márquez, Woolf, Hesse... and now I'm crazy about Bolaño, Nietzsche, Whitman...
I also love to learn new languages. I speak spanish, english and french. I'm starting to learn italian
I take mate every day. Wanna try?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm respectful, clean, easy-going and a very good listener... I would be interested in meeting you and hear from you any story you would like to tell me. I think the most wonderful thing about life is meeting new people, delve into their ways of seeing the world, their ways of thinking and loving, their frustations and desires and hopes.
