About Me

Ecuadorian-made. Just finished a master's in Paris. Currently starting a PhD in Chicago.
Avid traveler: academically, studying math takes you places; touristically, stubbornly believing a bike can take you almost anywhere. Constantly looking for opportunities to speak Russian or French. Occasionally considering learning some Portuguese or Kichwa.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Always happy to get free accommodation + meet someone (probably) cool when visiting a place.

Always happy to provide someone a place to sleep for free + meeting someone (probably) cool when able to host.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: from dire straits to sonata arctica to rise against to the glitch mob to el cuarteto de nos. Too broad...

Movies: don't watch many - the latest great one that comes to mind is The Usual Suspects.

Books: a couple favorites are the Millennium trilogy, Tolkien's books, The Three Musketeers, and always willing to read one of Borges' short stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Visited the Galapagos. Did not drown when the crowd started screaming ''Shark!'' and I was the only person well inside the sea.
- Learned enough Russian to converse.
- Survived a Russian trial (crime: not receiving my next visa in time).
- Cycled the better part of Monaco to Bordeaux, enjoying the glamourous red-cliffed French Riviera, sunny and windy Languedoc, medieval Carcassonne (fav spot in France), campable Narbonnaise rivers (with fellow bike travellers), and the Canal of two seas through Aquitaine.
- Cycled most of Amsterdam to Paris, enjoying lovely Dutch bike networks, amazing Belgian beer, and rural (NOT urban :P) French hospitality along the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

"If two people agree on everything, there is one too many". Looking forward to learn from the things we disagree on.

Besides, I can have convos in Spanish if you're learning it, or rave about nature in Ecuador, or get excited striving to explain high level math with everyday words, or try to convince you that traveling by bike is not so hard and beats whatever you are currently doing, or teach how to juggle diabolos.
