My name is Carlos. I am a student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and I am studying Journalism with a focus on Integrated Marketing Communication. I was born in Medellin, Colombia and I moved to the States when I was 9. I am bilingual, I know Spanish and English fluently but hope to learn another language soon as I am intrigued by the various tongues spoken around the world.

I love traveling and sight-seeing. Any time I get the chance to leave my town I take it. A new scenery is always appreciated. I have traveled a few places but I do aspire to be able to travel the world one day getting to experience new cultures and making new memories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Courchsurfing because my sister recommended it to me, honestly.

She has used Couchsurfing before when she backpacked Europe for 3 months and told me intriguing stories about the wonderful people she met and stayed with. Since I am planning a Euro Trip with my friend, why not meet and stay with cool people like she did? Traveling and meeting amazing people along the way makes for a great memorable experiences.

Interests

My interests right now focus on social media, technology, photography/art and community service.

I love the idea that social media can bring everyone, no matter where they are, together. That is the reason why I am studying Integrated Marketing Communications. I want to better understand social media and would like to use it in the future to bring people around the world closer together.

Technology is something that simply amazes me. I enjoy buying new technology, learning about it and everything in between. I am an Apple buff .. sorry to Android and Windows users. My iPhone, my Mac, my iPod and my iPad are a part of me. I enjoy using all devices and jail-breaking when I have the chance.

Photography/art is something that I admire a lot. I like looking at beautiful paintings, photographs, etc that simply take my breath away. Although I have a Cannon T3 I am nothing close to a photographer ... I am open to learning how to use it better if anyone can provide some tips though :D!

Community service is something that keeps me grounded. I am constantly reminded to be thankful for everything I have. I have a passion for helping others in need and raising awareness for various causes ranging from Alzheimer's to Domestic Violence. I am a firm believer that if you do good things for others, good things will happen to you.

Music, Movies, and Books

I know it sounds cliche but I really do like all types of music except country. It all really depends on my mood. Sometimes I will sit down and listen to Classic music, other times I will jam out to rock or R&B .. it all really depends.

I love watching movies, I am always on the look out for movies like Ocean movies, James Bond movies or anything that involves heists, spies and everything in between. I do have to say that i no longer like scary movies, the suspense just kills me, haha.

Although I do enjoy reading, I don't do much of it through books. I have read various books in the past but I now enjoy doing my reading through news/magazine articles. I am more of a non-fiction type of guy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canoed in the Bioluminescent Bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico. It was amazing to canoe and see the water around you light up with movement. I had never seen something so astonishing.
