Overview
About Me
27 year old guy from Santiago, Chile. Grew up in different places, always been traveling around, especially the last 2 years that I've been kind of non-stop. Getting serious in the wandering around business. Master in escaping from your problems and never look back kind of style.. a.k.a Traveling.
I'm into different things, music mostly, books and films (not so much lately though), food (big time). And mostly coffee, that is what I'm doing these days and the reason that I'm in Wellington.
Please don't send me a copy-paste style message! Actually read this and write if you feel we would be a good hang. Time is a mysterious and precious thing, let's use it wisely!
I like to go out for a run everyday or every other day. I like to cook for myself everyday as well (try to stay away from processed food.. not by any political or heath ambition, mostly because it tastes better and cooking is just a beautiful thing to do). I maintain a plant based diet (that's more of a philosophical choice) but I mind my own business and I'd never concern about others preferences in such matter. If you come to my place you can eat whatever you like, no worries. I do like cooking a lot and I'd be probably stuffing you with food so I don't think you will be missing anything! Also I always try to have a stock of the best fresh beans in town so if you're into specialty coffee you can knock yourself out.
I'm always up for going outside of town, to the outdoors, or just spending some time at the beach, a little bit away from the movement of the city. Around Wellington there's some nice hills to walk around and also beaches to go and chill for a while.
I always try to find places that play live music everywhere I go. I've been going to churches to listen to quartet groups or violin concerts as well as shitty bars with underground punk rock bands. I'm also keen on going out for a beer and listen to some indie band or go nuts dancing in a club if they're playing some nice electronic beats. But hanging out in some prefabricated night venue targeted for 20 year old top 40 lovers? I think I'll pass on that one.
I'm pretty easygoing and non-judgemental person, I'm LGBT friendly and vegan friendly and non vegan friendly and religions and ethnic groups and whatever, just keep it chill and that's pretty much what I asked. I'm very curious and I like to know about other people's lives, so whatever unsual things you like or weirdness living in you feel free to share, I'm always interested! I also know what is like to be travelling and staying in others peoples places so I don't expect you to be an object of my amusement and I will not bombard you with a million dumb standardized questions like (how's the food in your country?). I've been around and I know how it feels.. sometimes you just want to feel at home and rest for a bit, maybe you just come from a long trek, maybe you just hitchhike your way here and just want to chill for a few days.. well, you're more than welcomed here my friend.
I really treasure my independence and time, and also I work mon-sat, so I can't promise to hang out all the time. I'm probably going to be up for it but is just something I can't commit. Same for you if you wanna just hang on your for a while, don't feel pressure to stick with me. Again, probably I'd like to visit some places and going for hikes or have some drinks (I'm pretty much a tourist in Wellington as well), but I just want to be straight if it for some reason that just doesn't happen.
Anyway... people has been really cool with me while traveling, hosting me in different places (with and without CS) expecting nothing in return and that's all I want to do. Just feel at home and do whatever you want.. you like the outdoors? cool I might join you for a hike, you're a party animal? perfect, let's get hammered. you're the biggest nerd and wants to watch and discuss a 1960's silent Swedish movie? I'm game. You feel lazy and want to stay watching netflix all morning? Be my guest.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
1. People has been cool with me when I'm on the road and I want to do the same for other travelers when I have the chance to.
2. Every night on earth there's a bunch of empty couches and beds or just places to take shelter that are not being used. On the other hand there's a bunch of crazy wanderers, homeless truth seekers, low budget legends that are craving for a square meter to rest their boddies, access to toilet facilities and decent wifi. Let's bring this people together!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
uuff.. way too much. Way too much importance has music in my life and yeah, sorry, but I do judge people out of their musical taste pretty harshly. I'm very open to most genres though, I have a broad range of likes.
new indie rock, and pop. most "alternative" rock if that means anything. post punk and new wave. jazz, american jazzz, latin jazz and bossa nova. classical composers (piano solo mostly), 80s synthpop, early electronic music, I guess new electronic as well but my knowledge here is not so extensive, psychodelic peruvian chicha cumbia, british sort of jazzy rock hiphop, afrobeat, lofi hiphop beats, vaporwave, bedroom pop, garage rock.. anything made with passion and honesty, from a 15 year old kid recording with its phone and putting it out there on social media to a majestic austro-hungarian composer from the 18th century, skipping music design by corporate media suits.
Favourite Movies:
Lost in Translation, The Big Lebowski, 2001: Space Odyssey, Apocalypse now.
I'm a bit fed up with big studios now I've been watching movies in this platform called Mubi that offers a wider range of options and I've been really into it.. so I guess nowadays whatever Mubi tells me it's what I like, I trust my life to these people.
Books and stories from:
Roberto Bolaño, Javier Cercas, Franz Kafka, Milan Kundera, Scott Fitzgerald, Enrique Vila-Matas
