Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some friends and I biked a section of the Pacific coast a few summers ago, and though we stayed at hiker-biker sites most nights, we also stayed with a few couchsurfers along the way. I often drive back to Chicago from SF during the summer, and couchsurfing along the way has introduced me to some really amazing people.

Interests

Rivers, Sailboats, Biking, Filmmaking. Swimming in poor weather, Music. I also go Hiking, Walk around, Drive, Swim in regular weather, and I enjoy a good meal. I once went skydiving, and would like to go again. Climbing and surfing. I've stubbornly clinged to an 80's Volkswagen for way too long.

Music, Movies, and Books

Into the Wild, The Glass Castle, and Deep Survival are among my favorites. I love movies, and sometimes I get drawn into shows I'm not proud of watching religiously. Music is playing often. Also like to play it. Let’s jam.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a biking trip, a fellow couchsurfer showed us a mother otter who would frequent the dock where his boat was harbored. Her child had passed away, but she still brought the body up on the dock with her every night. She cried with it, looking up at us with eyes that broke our hearts. I'd never seen anything like that before.
