About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To recover time for myself and my interests
ABOUT ME
I've always lived in Mexico City. I have a son who's turning 14 but he lives with his mother. I see him almost every day; I drive him to school and go together to exercise at the gym. I work as a professor-researcher at a public university (Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México). I love my job and enjoy very much interacting with students and colleagues. I'm very fond of music and play some classical and electric guitar and a little drums. I enjoy drawing, dancing, good food, movies and books.
PHILOSOPHY
I deeply believe in the principles derived from the Enlightenment: the dignity of all human beings, liberty, fraternity, equality, extended recently to encompass respect for all beings and our planet. I'm a pacifist and internationalist (meaning I believe there are no real national differences and nationalist perspectives should be abandoned in favor of the recognition of our common humanity). I believe that understanding is possible across all sorts of cultural differences provided we make the effort to communicate and listen. I try to enjoy life and foster understanding.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Now I'm starting by attending some events organized by the couch-surfing community. I hope to be able to start organizing events in a couple of months and move on to hosting and surfing in the near future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I know some people who have been surfing and/or hosting and I'm just beginning to learn a bit more about it.
Interests
I'm very much interested in music, art, film, philosophy, history, literature. I also like to practice sport but nowadays I don't have much time. I enjoy dancing, singing and playing the guitar. I'm open to and interested in exchanging knowledge and opinions about basically everything; fostering understanding both in agreement as well as in disagreement.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy intense music, movies, books and art; creations that can move you potently. Thus, I love lots of classic stuff: Pink Floyd, The Doors, Bach, Beethoven, Piazzolla, Louis Armstrong, Jean-Luc Godard, Werner Herzog, Paul Leduc, Fellini, Where the Air is Clear, 100 Years of Solitude, The Tin Drum, The Feast of the Goat, Monet, Van Gogh, Tamayo and so on. I also treasure less well known creations like all kinds of folk music and less well known bands, musicians, artists, directors, movies, like The New Trolls, Magma, Stomu Yamashta, La noche de los mayas, Carlos Reygadas, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I would be very difficult to choose something like one amazing thing I've done or seen, not because my life has been especially exciting, but because I'm constantly amazed at living: wonderful places, people, food, music, books, movies; it'd take quite a long time to talk about all the things I've seen or done that have left lasting impressions on me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could help in learning Spanish, English, philosophy, history, some classical guitar, basically. I'm interested in improving my language skills in French, Italian, German, Greek and Portuguese at present and skills in jazz or bossa nova guitar playing.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Austria, Chile, Czech Republic, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, United States, Uruguay
