About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Kickass and chew bubble gum.

ABOUT ME

Whenever I go to a new city the first place I visit is the museum, closely followed by the park or the pub!

I'm curious; when I encounter something new and unknown I tend to look it up. I know a little bit about a lot of things (but also a lot about a few things!) I try to approach life like a cubist and see things from as many sides and angles as I can.

I try to stay abreast of current events, but struggle to keep up with the latest movies.

I prefer dry over sweet.

PHILOSOPHY

Collect experiences, not things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Name of the Rose; The Flanders Panel; The Count of Montecristo; Guns, Germs, and Steel; A People's History of the United States; A Short History of Nearly Everything. Historical fiction and non-fiction greatly appeals to me. I'm also a fan of a good fantasy story like the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the odd graphic novel (loved the Preacher).

Movies: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski, Clerks, Jackie Brown, Rushmore, The Usual Suspects, Pan's Labyrinth. Weird comedies and thoughtful thrillers always catch my attention.

TV: Breaking Bad, Madmen, Game of Thrones, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, Democracy Now! My reality TV guilty pleasure: Storage Wars (I can't help it, I love Barry!)

Music: The Sea and Cake, The New Deal, Medeski Martin and Wood, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Pink Floyd, Queen, Nick Drake, Johnny Cash, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, Rage Against the Machine, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Paco de Lucia, Buena Vista Social Club, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans. Honestly, I find that there is something to like in every genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the amazing opportunity to travel to China and study the 11th century murals on the walls of Fengguo temple. To be greeted by the seven 30ft high polychrome gilded Buddha sculptures everyday while working in the temple was easily one of the most amazing and surreal experiences of my life.
