Hi, I'm Carlos Vasquez and I’m 26 years old. I grew up in Nicaragua, for the last 4 months I’ve traveling in my Van. I’m passionate about music, films, photography, nature, meditation, breweries, volunteering, arts, and everything that helps me grow, empathize and connect with the people around me.

I think the world is full of wonder, interesting places, knowledge, cultures, lovely people, stories to be told and to be listened to. It is this seeking for new experiences and desire to learn that brings me on Couchsurfing today.

I love movies very much. One of my favorite film critics —Roger Ebert— described them as “the most powerful empathy machine in all the arts” because "A great movie lets you walk in somebody else's shoes, it lets you understand a little bit more about what it’s like to be a different gender, a different race, a different age, a different economic class, a different nationality, a different profession, different hopes, aspirations, dreams and fears. It helps us to identify with the people who are sharing this journey with us". To me, they are often unique and beautiful experiences that offer insightful ideas about the human condition and the world around us. Paraphrasing Franz Kafka, I think "[Movies can be] the axe for the frozen sea within us”, they help us explore ourselves and come to terms with our own humanity.

Some of my Favorite artists I highly recommend: Alan Gregory Isakov, Alice Phoebe Lou, Caamp, Mac DeMarco, Los Rodriguez, Andres Calamaro, Arctic Monkeys, Keaton Henson, The Smiths and Michael Kiwanuka.

Some books I enjoyed (although, unfortunately I don't read often): Post Office by Charles Bukowski, Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac, Life itself by Roger Ebert and The little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

I have very good communication skills in English and Spanish. Over 6 years of experience in all sort of work environments and different jobs like Gardening, Coffee shops, Hospitality, Restaurants, Customer Service, Construction, Cleaning, Delivery, Management, etc.

For the most part, I've been teaching and working as an IT. I am very familiar with graphic design (video, audio and image editing), Microsoft Office, Computer Maintenance, Networks, databases, Wordpress, Web Development, Digital Marketing, E-Commerce and pretty much everything related to tech and the Internet.
