About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To soak up every bit of culture, knowledge and awareness I can. I have reached an odd crossroads in my life where I am young but also see the people around me either settling down or going on adventures. My sole mission is to improve my confidence, my relationship with others and with the world through travel. Ideally make a blog about it whenever I get the time.

ABOUT ME

This is quite odd. I highly doubt I will put ALLLLLL about me in this tiny little limited box. What really matters to me is expanding my mind, warming my heart, and opening my soul.

I guess I should add, I am short and I can fit in pretty much any hole to sleep. I curl up quite wonderfully on a couch. I love animals, though I am primarily a dog person. A cat once punctured my air mattress while on a camping trip in the Grand Canyon, we have yet to be friends.

I am very laid back but I can get very passionate about things I believe in. I enjoy conversation, I sleep like a log, love dinosaurs and polka dots, have a craving for being fluent in at least 5 languages, and am on a constant quest for the best hot chocolate in the world.

Also: the e key on my keyboard works only by punching it. So every e I type, is an e of effort.

PHILOSOPHY

What I like most about life and human beings (wonderful creatures) is this power of dialogue. I believe that bouncing ideas around is quite possibly one of our most important duties. I love thinking, talking, and I love, above all, listening. I believe that everybody has a passion, a story or a piece of knowledge that you can just add to your wondrous mental bank. I abide by the Doctor's words, "900 years of time and space and I never met someone who wasn't important."

I live my life to live it. I have it and some little soul is still waiting in line to get the chance to live. The fact that I can get up, walk, and breathe is amazing enough. In the past I have been my own worst enemy, so for the present and the future, I am on my own side. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Ideally I would like to be able to get to know a lot about the country I now call home, U.S.A! :) I will start off just surfing, as I don't live alone, and as you know, happy wife (roommates/siblings) happy life. In the future, in a more active or rather bigger community than Tally, I would like to go to meetings, plan trips, host, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have none! :D I am excited to start collecting some stories, though!

Interests

I really enjoy learning about people and their life stories. I also love giving advice and am terrible at taking my own. I love knowledge. I have a thirst for it every moment of the day. My co-workers know me for laughing to myself as I listen to some joke I heard on Lexicon Valley, nodding at something I heard on the TED Radio Hour or This American Life, or simply going "oooooh" at some new piece of history or mystery I learn through the Vintage Radio Hour or History Shows. That's it, you guessed it, I am a podcast fan.

Obviously, my interests lie in writing/talking a lot. I fail at bullet points and yet I have an obsession with planning and office supplies, then again I never stick to plans. I also have this fun hobby of mine where I spend hours researching the real estate market, job market, community, activities, entertainment, travel, etc of any given city that I have had a crush on. Lately it has been Helsinki. I will imagine for a day I am moving there and that usually suffices my hunger for a couple weeks.

Below, a list of random things I enjoy.
- Calendars
- Dinosaurs
- Pirates
- History
- Jazz music
- Old radio mystery
- Satin
- Nice buttons
- Scandinavia
- Sunscreen
- Rain boots
- Cloudy Weather
- Lack of pollen
- Watches
- Noodles
- British shows
- Dr. Who/LOST/Game Of Thrones/etc.
- HALLOWEEN! Costumes and Decor! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I hate filling these out. I love jazz. I love art in general. I adore films. I can't even begin to list things... Main thing to state is that I give everything at least one shot. If I like it, it sticks. If I don't like it, I move on. I enjoy suggestions!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I have seen was the Grand Canyon. It was truly a humbling and exciting experience to put myself at the edge of many of the cliffs and be aware of how tiny I was in this vast world. It was the most beautiful array of colors I have ever seen in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn how to play an instrument. Never did.
I want to learn how to ballroom dance and dance flamenco.
I want to learn how to speak at least 5 languages.
I want to touch base in at least 6 continents.
I want to learn how to properly farm, plant, grow my own vegetables.

I guess I want to share my world view in hope you will share yours.

What can I teach? You know, I don't think I am a master at any particular thing, although I am pretty good at hula hooping, being persuasive, tutoring you lovely people in Spanish? I can handle my eyebrows pretty well. I am such a talented person!
