ABOUT ME
It's a funny thing trying to summarise yourself in under 100 words! I'll start by saying that when I was 9 years old, I met Lauryn Hill and she said "you're cool". The event is now listed on my CV under 'general achievements'. She did not want to be listed as a reference for couch surfing, only because she couldn't give out her personal details... But trust me. Apparently I'm cool.
I'm a 26 year old girl from Melbourne, Australia. I absolutely love everything about travelling, especially meeting new people from all walks of life. I'm a warm, sociable person who has a huge appreciation for music (I play piano and guitar around the streets of Melbourne), comedy and the arts.
Oh and I'm a big animal lover, with a cat, dog and bluetongue lizard (Aussie species) of my own. My dream is to have a pet python and/or tarantula. One day when I'm ready to be a villain in a graphic novel I will buy one and I will call him Rex.
I'm sure there's lots more to tell but then I'd be ruining the fun of getting to know each other!!
PHILOSOPHY
**Respect everyone and learn from everything. Usually, by laughing at everything.**
"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow." - Anthony J. D'Angelo
"Don't put the knife in the toaster" - Dad, 1991.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None as yet... Although once I woke up on a Sunday morning to find a stranger on my couch that my housemate had invited in for shelter from the cold drunken night. His name was Jarrod. He wore a Led Zepplin t-shirt. I never met him again but he was lovely and we drank tea together.
Does that count?
Interests
Music, Music, Music, Traveling (10 points if you guessed it), Literature, Films, Painting/Street Art, Theatre, Philosophy, History, Writing, Teaching, Busking.
Learning funny little things that I didn't know but now I do. Like learning that the term 'cold shoulder' originated in ye olde English days when people hosting visitors would want them to leave so to give the hint they'd serve up a cold shoulder of lamb. There's a tip for anyone couch hosting!!
I have a very strong passion for women's rights; one of my life passions is attempting to curve negative attitudes towards all kinds of people (gender/sexuality/national culture etc) through education. This year I'm lucky enough to be traveling to Chennai, India to help offer women some resources they may need to empower and develop their lives. Should be an amazing experience!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Flaming Lips, Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver, The Cure, Ani Di Franco, The Raconteurs, Whitest Boy Alive, Lissie, Yacht, Aussie hip-hop (don't judge), musical theatre, folk music, jazz music, 80s power ballads...
Books: Mila 18, High Fidelity, Sound and the Fury, Jim De Rogatis, Goethe, Satre, playscripts...
Films: Pans Labyrinth, Waking Life, Spirited Away, Hung Fu Hustle, The Goonies, Mon Oncle, Angels in America...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the northern lights from a garden of stone sculptures in Iceland. Breathtaking, unspeakable beauty. If I could record one scene from my life on film so far, this would be it.
(Sneaky second lifetime thing: Skydiving onto a sandy beach in Queensland, Australia. My lungs still haven't quite recovered from screaming.)
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope to be able to contribute some personal experiences to this very soon...
