About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find goals for myself and understand people

ABOUT ME

I come from Germany, grew up in southern Lower Saxony and study for my masters in Computer Science at the university of Magdeburg.

I easily get interested in many things, particularly in the surroundings of where I currently am, the places, history, people, etc.

Being a debater, I come with ideas about many things and I like to reflect on and talk about them. It also means I always like to see the other side of an issue.

Independence is very important to me. So when I have the chance to share time with my friends and we are companions to each other, I feel very glad. However, if I want to do a certain thing (e.g. travelling) and I can't find anyone to do it with me, I happily do it on my own.

I think I have a very positive idea of humans. This means I believe all behaviour is somehow explainable and understandable. I don't believe bad people exist. Yet I don't yet manage to see the reasons and needs behind what some people do. Changing this is my current mission.

A vegetarian none-smoker who doesn't drink coffee nor alcohol nor coke... I guess I appear quite strange and selective from time to time. I'm also not a party person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to take part in activities, surfing when travelling and in general I also host surfers. Right now, though, I cannot host due to limited available space. Additionally, I'm not a local and I cannot provide the cultural experience I would search for as a visitor. This is why I don't want to host couchsurfers right now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since I joined in May 2012, I took part in activities in Cape Town, Magdeburg and Paris.
I surfed in Zimbabwe, Germany and Spain.
In Magdeburg, I hosted a lot of people from several countries.

Other than through Couchsurfing, I lived with two really amazing host families in Sarajevo and Tehran.

Interests

One of my greatest fields of interest are games (bord-, card-, activity games, etc.). I've invented a few myself. Actually, I attended a course last semester where we invented a board game as a team. It reminded me of how much fun it is. I really enjoyed.

Travelling is so interesting and exciting, seeing new places, meeting new people, receiving new impressions. I like railways in particular.

I used to sing in an a-capella choir and I do debating as a sport.

In 2015, I completed a group leader's course of laughter yoga and I founded a laughter club in Magdeburg in order to laugh regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books

I found some South African music I really enjoy listening to. My favourite band is Freshlyground.
In terms of Turkish music, I mostly like music from the 90's.
I didn't find appropriate Australian music yet.
Movies should be fun and make me laugh. My favourite one is "Otesanek" ("Little Otik" in English), a Czech surrealistic movie.
I don't really read a lot of books - actually last time I finished a book was in early 2012 (though that one was really nice). I can live without books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing was to find people I could instantly trust and to whom I could talk about the most personal things.

I studied abroad for two (almost) consecutive years in Turkey, Australia and Cuba.

And I took a lift in a fire engine... ask me about that thing with the fire engine!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn about cultures, experiences people made, their everyday life. I'd be glad if I could learn to cook a dish from another place. Or playing a game I didn't know before.

What I could obviously share is my knowledge about German language and culture, perhaps something about computer science - and laughing!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I know laughter yoga, so I can laugh with them!
