About Me
No longer living in SA :( BUT super amped to be 'Astray in Australia' for a year ;) Excited to meet new people and make new memories!!
"If you are looking to experience authentic South African culture - where people still live in mud huts with grass thatched roofs, fetch water from the river using buckets balanced on their heads, grow their own vegetables.. A place where cows and goats and sheep and donkeys roam free, where the nearest tar road is 20kms away.. A place where the beaches and sunsets and rolling hills are wild and untouched.. If you are looking for a place to feed your soul, then this little piece of heaven that I am fortunate enough to call home is just for you! :)"
Howzit kunjani! (That means hello, in South African slang.)
I am a 23-year-old, life-loving, outgoing young lady, living in the most untouched and beautiful town in the world - Port Saint Johns. (I actually live about 30 minutes outside of Port Saint Johns in a location called Gomolo, right by Mpande beach.. It is unbelievably beautiful here!)
I recently graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town and I am currently working at Isilimela Hospital as an Occupational Therapist.
I absolutely love meeting new people from different cultures and from all different walks of life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
2 reasons:
1. I honestly believe that I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I would love to be able to share it with everyone! (That includes YOU!) ;)
And 2. One of my all-time most favourite quotes is: "Life is not about finding yourself - It's about creating yourself."
I'm not out to travel to "find myself".
I like to think that my life was once like a blank canvas, and through living, I am creating a masterpiece that I will one day be able to look at and be proud of.
I want my canvas to be full of colour, and culture, and memories shared with different people and made in different places all over the world.
Hence, why I joined couch surfing :) I'd like to build up a decent "host base" and host as many people as possible before I set out on my travels in the next year or so. Hopefully I'll get a few decent references and couch surfing won't be as challenging when it comes to my turn to be hosted ;)
Interests
Travelling. Reading. Writing. Water skiing. Hiking. Running. Wake-boarding. i have my level 3 kite-boarding licence, although I'm not too sure how I obtained it, 'cause I'm pretty useless. Loooove surfing (even though I am super amateur). Sailing. Anything to do with the sea - I love it. Sunsets and sunrises with a good cold beer! Singing and dancing - whether in the shower, at the club or at a music festival - I'm there. I know how to ride a motorbike and a horse :P Always game to try anything new.

Music, Movies, and Books
My secret indulgence is One Direction, Justin Bieber and The Vamps (Don't judge.) Otherwise I pretty much love most music, especially if it's feel-good. :)
I have a weird obsession with documentaries about religion, prisons, drugs and rare physical conditions in humans. Also Geordie Shore. (Just being honest with you here.)
Just read "3 Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. Mortenson is a hero - everyone should read his book!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2009.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to speak basic isiXhosa and Afrikaans (two of the 11 official languages of South Africa).
I would love to learn about another culture! How to speak another language, what food you eat, what kind of music you listen to, what customs you follow.. Teach me everything!
I am more then happy to share my home and food with you :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Everything my beautiful little home in the hills has to offer :) From hiking along the beaches and up and over the rolling green hills, to surfing in Coffee Bay, to adventuring to the world-famous 'Hole in the Wall', to watching the sunset with a cold beer on the mountainside, to showering under waterfalls, to trail running, to partying at all the backpackers along the incredible wild coast - Whatever your heart desires!
