About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Always looking for a new adventure

ABOUT ME

You can get to know me more when you meet me. But I come from Newcastle, NSW, Australia. I have half a Social Science degree and I am a fully qualified massage therapist (which I practiced for 8 years). I have lived in a few places in Australia, though I always seem to come back to Newcastle ( I love the ocean). But I got itchy feet after living back in my hometown and wanted to branch out again. I am currently living just outside London. I am doing live-in-care work, which has been great. Its allowed me to save and travel pretty much whenever I want.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is there to give it a good shake.

Also I am a "When life gives you lemons ... "(fill in the blank philosopher.

Make your own fairytale.

And the best one I have heard in recently is "Everything will be alright in the end, and if it is not alright it is not yet the end".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't host people to stay with me as I live with a host family, but I am free to hang out with people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to all this, I have not done this before. But since coming to England I have crashed on plenty of friends couches.

Interests

I love traveling and everything that comes along with it. I love making new friends, I always make the most interesting connections with people.
I am a pretty keen scuba diver, but I have been only once since moving to the UK.
I love being outside amongst it. I'll try anything at least once.
I love good food, alcohol, books, movies and music.
I love being challenged and I love having a good debate with someone, I love a person who can give me a good reason to change my opinion or my feelings on a topic or issue.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will watch most movies once and some a million times over. All time favorite movies are "Its a wonderful life", "Flight of the Navigator", The Marvel Comic Movies "Iron Man, The Avengers Assemble" etc, Shawshank Redemption", "50/50", "Fight Club", "Inception", most Aussie movies (I don't mind a good laugh at Australian culture.

I love music, I have probably spent a house deposit over the years going to concerts, gigs and festivals. I don't listen to commercial radio stations, so if you ask me about the latest Idol singer you will get a blank stare from me. I love swapping music with people.

I love reading, and like movies I will read everything at least once or try to read it. I always have at least one book on the go, and I love swapping a book with someone once I have finished it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving in Egypt was the most amazing experience. I have been dreaming about diving the Red Sea since I started diving 4 years ago and I finally got to this April. Seeing the shipwreck SS Thistlegorm was a major highlight of my trip in Egypt. I can't wait to get back there.

In 2004 in Luang Prabang, Laos, which in itself is one of the most amazing cities. The time that I was there was the boat festival. It was like the World Cup came to Luang Prabang. The entire country practically shows up. Seeing the monks stand on the side of the river yelling and screaming their favorite boat to win is one the the sights I will never forget.

I did completed my first Camino this year. I had the most amazing time. I got to see a side of Spain that I probably would never have got to traveling a different way. I met the most incredible people and made friends for life!!! I loved the simplicity of life on the camino. Best meditation ever. I would recommend this to trip to anyone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been a massage therapist for over 8 years, I am always on the look out for people to pass on those skills to because I am always in need of a good massage.

When I travel I always try to learn a as much of the language as I can. Even though I am most certain that I have probably offended people all over the world. I love food and I am always interested in learning some cooking tricks and tips. So I guess I am interested in meeting people who are willing to share their culture with me.

One of the reasons I am interested in experiencing the couch surfing culture is that I am not always a fan of following what the guide book says. I want to meet the local person who can share with me their city/town or village that they live in. I believe that you have never truly experienced a place till you have got to know the people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Laos, Morocco, Northern Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
