About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Livin' the Dream...

ABOUT ME

I am have just moved to London after living back in Washington, DC for 8 months. And before that I lived in Rome for a year which is where I discovered CS. And I feel so lucky because CS truly has changed my life! I have meet the most amazing people, had great adventures and even fell in love with my boyfriend while couchsurfing in Greece.

Beyond that, I feel I am lucky enough to have a great job that fulfills me. I really do think that my small contribution is in some way (indirectly) helping to improve the lives of people in developing countries.

But my life is really about what I do away from my desk. I love to travel (of course, so does everyone on CS ;). I love languages (though I am terrible at learning them :-/) I want to know about people's lives - their cultures, their families, their tradition, their food and all the elements of their life that influences them!

Besides that I just want to live my life to the fullest, meet as many people from as many places as possible and leave this world a bit better than I found it - all of which I think is at the heart of CS.

PHILOSOPHY

To forever be a student of life. There is only so much we can learn from books or lectures, at a certain point we must take our education into our own hands. And I try to continue to learn every day through the people I meet, the places I go, and the experiences I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attend CS events and I have had the great opportunity to surf in Madrid & Istanbul & Greece & Florence & Brussels & all on the East coast of the US with amazing hosts! And I spent last NYE with the London CSers on the Waterloo bridge. Right now I am not in a place to host, but I am looking forward to doing so soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only met the most amazing, diverse, and fun-loving people!
I even managed to fall in love on a Couch Surfing trip!

Interests

Being with friends, laughing, meeting new people, food, learning about new cultures, taking random pictures, Africa, traveling, development economics, gender issues in developing countries, STATA, exploring, reading, dancing, going out, running, swimming, playing volleyball, cooking, learning new things, wine and (more) food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music as long as I can dance to it (specifically hip hop and salsa) or sing along (this includes cheesy 80's songs and poppy Italian songs).
As for books, the list is extensive, but with a focus in non-fiction and issues in development economics and the place I travel - though I am trying to branch out :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fell in love on a Couch Surfing trip.
Stood on the Great Wall of China all by myself.
Flew directly over the North Pole.
Spent an entire day on a deserted island in the DR with the whitest sand and the bluest ocean.
Attended the inauguration of President Obama.
Spent the night on an Italian beach.
Rang in 2011 with my love while watching the fireworks of London go off around us.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am learning Portuguese (my bf is from Portugal), so if you want to learn I could help you out with basics.
I love to cook, I can show you a few recipes.
If you have an interest in US politics, I can talk all night about it.
And I can teach you about economics, not the boring crap they teach you in high school, but the interesting and exciting parts!
I love to learn about people's cultures, their traditions and especially their food!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Dominican Republic, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom
