I'm enthusiastic, easy-going, curious, respectful and empathetic, yet occasionally brass, and love nothing more than people who make you laugh so hard your face hurts. I do my best to make their faces hurt also.

I am always down to learn about other religions and cultures, and simply ask that the company I keep be kind and respectful of their fellow humans. My personal "religious" perspective is some agnostic amalgam of the movies "Dogma" and "What Dreams May Come." I was a democrat, but now I think political parties are pretty much the worst and should cease existing all-together. I guess I'm basically a liberal democratic socialist feelin' the bern. It's all about that golden rule, yo.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I have always had a wanderlust, but never had the opportunity to satiate it until recently and, after this trip, will probably be too broke to do so again until I'm an old lady. So, in the mean time, my enthusiasm for other languages and cultures will have to be satiated locally. When I lived in LA, I loved showing people around my city. I'm new to Portland, so may not have quite as much of a wealth of knowledge about the cool spots, but we can just discover them together!

My apartment was once a veritable Motel 6 from hosting all the time. Then I got gentrified and had to move to a much smaller space in a less cool part of town. I have now moved to Portland where I have a pretty sweet set-up and will host occasionally, when awesome peeps apply and I'm not exhausted from adulting.

Once upon a time, when I moved to a big city without knowing anybody, I crashed on some awesome peoples' couches while looking for an apartment. I've met some of my best friends through couchsurfing, and become a more open person in the process. It's a great way to shake that "Don't talk to strangers" upbringing and get to know your neighbor.

兴趣

I am currently a preschool teacher, actor, spoken word artist, former long-time bartender, and aspiring high school English teacher. Being an actor, I like all the normal theatre things like singing and dancing, reading and writing, but i also am obsessed with language and want to learn at least 5 fluently before i die. I also want to visit at least 10 countries, play at least 3 instruments really well, and learn how to surf. I love being a host for dinner parties for friends and make delicious fajitas, a mean margarita, and a dangerously good martini.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One? How about five:

Went scuba diving with sea turtles in Hawaii.

Went on a 10 mile naked bike ride with hundreds of people through LA.

Got second place at a poetry slam in New York.

Shaved my head bald a couple times, the first time raising a bunch of money for fighting kiddie cancers.

Visited my cousins in Maui and there was this little trail leading off the main beach which led to a delta where the river flowed into the ocean ("that's what a delta is, yeah...") and then jumped off a rock into the water, swam across it, climbed up the little cliff on the other side, and watched the waves crash into the cliff on the other side as the sun began to set. That was pretty cool.

I could teach acting, dialect work, or bartending. I could also tell you quite a lot about Islam, since I researched a ton about it and read the Quran a handful of years ago, so as to better understand a friend's background.

I wanna learn any musical instrument, any language, any form of dance, or pretty much anything else. Also, if you want to teach me how to cook something, that would be rad, as well.
