About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Road trippin' round the world and loving every second!

ABOUT ME

Hello all, how's it going?
I'm Carmel- an eccentric London girl traveling / working overseas for the past 3 years :)
I get on with everyone, LOVE music, chilling out, city strolls and great conversations. Be cool to find some likeminded arty types / musicians / creatives to jam/ chill with, attend gigs, exhibitions, etc... I'm really laid back.
I used to run several events, clubnights and vintage fayres back home in the city so pretty passionate about arts/ music / fashion but happy to meet ANY nice people and make new chums :)

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone always rambles about how life is short, but actually, a well-lived life is pretty long so why not take our time traveling and tasting other cultures? Experiencing different cultures and lifestyles is important to me, I love meeting new people, making friends and CHANGE. I love to travel and live out of the contents of a rucksack.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to meet some lovely people, make new friends, return the favour and exchange skill / trade for the hospitality.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted international students at my previous flat and had a really great experience - with a french couple, I showed them round London, took them out on the town, we cooked for each other, I introduced them to my friends and we have remained in contact to this day. One night ended up being 4 weeks!! Of course, I don't expect the host to cater for me - I understand people work and have other priorities (I'm independent too) however it was such a lovely experience as it was summer so I had all the time in the world and we shared skills and helped each other out.... Generally it was a great set up!

Interests

Music- Roots/ Reggae / Hip Hop / Dub / Soul / Indie / Acoustic / Electronic / 90s Rap / 80s Disco / Grime / UK Garage
Also LURRVE festivals, traveling, good food, interesting characters, retro fashion, creative writing, photography, dancing, relaxing and generally enjoying life (cheesy but true!) I've had a bit of experience radio-hosting and want to pursue this - have a HUGE eclectic taste in Music!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm obsessed and infatuated with this little thing we call Music; favourite genres see Interests (above)
Fav books- 11 Minutes, A Clockwork Orange, 1984, The Beach, Anthony Kiedis autobiopgraphy....
Films: anything Quentin Tarantino / Tim Burton direct!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did the Nevis Bungy jump in Queenstown! Was absolutely insane! Abseiled down one of the biggest water-towers in the UK for a charity... Woke up to dolphins, my first ever night in N/Z...

Teach, Learn, Share

Hobbies/ activities include: face-painting, dancing, journalistic/ creative writing, singing, arts and events planning- I used to run a vintage shop for one year in London and am a founder of an arts and events collective called The Rollin' Notes- we host dance tents at European festivals, run clubnights, host private bashes and generally entertain parties, dj-sets, other shindigs. I cook a little, but would love to gain more knowledge in the kitchen and cook more great dishes.
