About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everything begun with the desire to discover a new country and civilization when I moved to Turkey for a few months last December. I now realise how much I've learned about their way of living from everyday interactions with locals, things one might fail to notice if (s)he only relies on tourist guides and travel journals.
Although my home city might not be the crowning jewel of the east, it's no sore to the eyes either, the beautiful mountains surrounding it, natural parks and ski resorts are worth exploring, and the old center is not half bad. So, if ever travelling to this part of the world, i'd be glad to show you around, I can even throw in a good run through the forest if you're into that kind of thing, or maybe just grab a bite to eat and share local trivia.

Interests

I love nature, jogging, cross fitness, hiking, cycling, I absolutely love animals, especially dogs, reading (more like listening to audiobooks these days), i enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories, the conclusions they have come up with regarding life in general and their take on "the meaning of life".

Music, Movies, and Books

these days i prefer drum and bass (Tony's hospital podcasts are pretty wicked) and dubstep, but i sometimes find myself listening to folk music or some crappy contemporan "classics"

my favorite series is definitely "harry potter", but i also enjoy Dostoyevsky ("the idiot" is probably my favorite), Truman Capote's novels, The lovely bones, Lord of the flies, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Life of Pi, books on self-improvement, etc.

movies? stupidly enough, i've watched "the curious case of benjamin button" and "dutch (1991)" countless times, i must know the lines by heart by now (guilty pleasures, what can you do?!). i also enjoy drama movies (the pianist, good bye lenin, into the wild, touching the void, la vitta e bella, the pursuit of happyness), movies by Hayao Miyazaki and way, way, way too many tv series for my own good, glasses might be mandatory soon :D (the mentalist, seinfeld, agatha christie related series, the last man on earth, chef's table, monk, family guy, vice, an idiot abroad, fargo, true detective, etc.).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Noting that strikes me as "amazing" comes to mind, but i guess deciding to become a vegetarian 6 years ago was a fairly inspired move (hopefully, in the near future, i will be a vegan)
