My name is Carmen, I am a 25 year old student. I am a very happy, enthousiastic person, I can get excited about the smallest things and that makes me enjoy everything that I do. I am easy to get along with, I love meeting people and just sitting down with a drink and have a good conversation!

What I really love to do is laughing. So to do that I like to get a little crazy sometimes, cause that´s when all the fun happens :D

One thing I have come to love as I get older, is trying things that I've never done before, things that I generally don't like or that don't look appealing. 'Try before you die' is what I seek to live by. What I love most in that, is when I come to like something I was negative about at first :D

I haven't quite figured out my philosophy yet. It seems to be forever in progress. There is, however, one thing that I have learned to live by over the years. Live and let live. I feel that, with people, there is no better, smarter, wiser or happier, there is only different. Stop measuring, take it like it is. It makes the world so beautiful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actively started using CS when I moved to Benalmádena, Spain in September 2013. While I was living there I started going to events and met a ton of cool people. I joined the volleyballgroup every sunday and over period of 5 months, they became the best friends I had. When I had to leave, I cried at my goodbyeparty.

During my stay in Spain I also hosted, twice, and it was awesome :D I've never surfed, but hopefully that will change soon!

Right now I'm not able to host people. If people want to meet up for coffee, be shown around, or just have a conversation, I am always up for it :D

Interests

I am interested in reading, movies, cooking (sometimes), going for a walk, staying healthy (not always, I like chocolate too), meeting people, philosophize, having dinner for 3 hours with friends, going for a run, sleeping in, sometimes just sitting in my window with a cup of coffee and let my mind run wild.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book of all time is 'The Giver', I had to read this in English class during High School, I've read it many more times after that. Anyone that hasn't read it, you should :D. An awesome movie is 'The Man from Earth', but also like Marvel movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived in the US for one year when I was 17, as a foreign exchange student on a high school. That was the most amazing experience of my life so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people some English or some Dutch. Also teach some tricks of the delicate Dutch cuisine (haha 'delicate', well, that´s a joke of course ). Other than than I would like to share the (very well known) quote that inspires me: "be the change you like to see in the world".

What I Can Share with Hosts

Being able to share bottle of wine (or a pot of tea) makes me very happy, along with some travel stories (I have a few :D).
