About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is an amazing chance to share not only space, but stories, cultures, and experiences. I've loved meeting people and surfing, and I hope to have a place of my own one day that I can share with others!

Interests

I'm always seeking new experiences, and I of course love traveling. I really appreciate good food and whenever I'm in a new place one of the first orders of business is finding a hole in the wall restaurant where the locals go! I live for dramatic sunrises and bumpy back roads. I love books and hope to own an infoshop/bookstore one day. I've been doing yoga since I was in my early teens, it's the only thing I've been doing consistently since then. Getting my hands dirty and watching things grow makes my heart flutter- I've had my own garden, been a member of a community farm in the city, and worked on permaculture farms in India and Italy. Lastly, I adore music. Big concerts, late night music sessions, singing at protests and rallies, and squeaking out tunes on my violin are all included.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited Chiapas, Mexico on a grant from Grassroots Exchange and Fair Trade USA (thank you!) to visit women's weaving cooperatives, coffee farmers, and coop offices and brought that knowledge back to my community in the form of presentations and advocacy. Inspired by this trip, I started and led a campaign to pressure the University of Vermont to employ a third party certifier to monitor the factories in which it's clothing is made, effectively barring them from using sweatshop labor.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking, especially big family meals.

Good conversation!

I have three years experience teaching English as a second language and have a Bachelor's Degree in English, so I would be happy to give a lesson or edit your work (website, resume, profile, etc.).
