About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Maaike and I are leaving Holland on the 1st of Dec. to travel round the world. We're flying to New Zealand and will be backpacking back to the Netherlands. We hope to encounter friendly people, experience other cultures and have a great adventure

ABOUT ME

I'm a 32 year old who has been working and living in the Netherlands for the last five and a half years. originally from South Africa i left with my parents and moved back to their home town in England. My girlfriend Maaike, is Dutch. Until recently we had a nice little appartment in Heerhugowaard, North Holland. We decided a couple of years ago to do a world travel and have been saving up and planning for it since then.
I would consider myself mild and relaxed, but have a great sence of adventure and passion for other cultures. I like leaning and experiancing new things. I'm open minded and liberal. We have a travel blog at jamesenmaaike.waarbenjij.nu

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had an official CouchSurfing experience yet, but something that comes close. Back in 1994, Black Sabbath played the Birmingham NEC, after the gig a couple of Swedish guyes asked me how to get back to the center of Birmingham. We had a chat and I said it would be better for them to come back and stay at my place, drink some beer, listen to some music and that I'd put them on a train for Bir. center the next day. They agreed and we all had a great evening. I'll always remember it as my first CS ish experience

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to stonehenge on summer solstice the first year in a long time it was open to the public. I had taken some acid and came round in the morning in the middle of a wheat field. The orange sun just started to rise over stonehenge, true magick.
